Primer test results. Wow 🤯

While this is just preliminary evidence, I certainly wasn't expecting the results to be so dramatic.

Disclaimers:
1. Sample size of 10 rounds each is too small for my preference.
2. Rounds with CCI #41 were fired first to make sure I was on target at 600yd.
3. Lot numbers were recorded, but not age of primers.

Load recipe:
- Once fired Lake City brass (2020), swaged
- 80gr Sierra MatchKing
- 24.0gr Vithivouri N140 (humidity locked at 49%)

Goodie bag is full of samples, ready to hand out at SHOT Show!

Behind the scenes: I designed a stamp and 3D printed it with flexible material, then used it to mark the boxes.

Powder humidity experiment, Wrap-up

Photo 1: Powder sample weights over time. Every day for a week then a month later.

- Two spill incidents, oops.
- Powder that touches humidity packs does appear to absorb more moisture and exhibit slowly less stable weight over time.
- Humidity packs work, airflow & seals are important!

Photo 2: Temp and relative humidity readings over time (Kestrel Drops).

- Gaps in data are from batteries dying.
- Humidity packs maintain exceptional consistent relative humidity!

I can share the spreadsheet publicly if folks want to see it!

What's next? I'll post a video shortly with an explained and preview. 🤓

See you in the future! 💡⚡

Powder humidity experiment, Day 5

Football bores me 😒
Here's some data 🤓

The last three measurements have been relatively stable compared to the first two days, especially for the two samples inside the experiment.

The difference between the indoor and outdoor control samples is now about 0.040 grams (0.62 grains), as far as I can tell due solely to water absorption & loss.

Unless there's a drastic change, I'll measure two more days.

See you in the future 💡⚡

Range test photo dump! 👇

1) Detecting bullet-exit at the muzzle with an oscilloscope and the bayo sensor.

2) Probes connected to modified audio cable. Sensor wiring diagram reference helps to avoid mistakes.

3) 100MHz sample of the voltage generated when a bullet passes a sensor. Successful test!

4) What luck! The test platform fits perfectly on top of the crate! This is where I store/organize all electronic gadgets.

5) Does that sensor look straight to you? I can never tell 🤷‍♂️

6) 10 shot group at 50yd with the rifle test platform. Pretty good but not great. More work to do. 3D printed parts should help.

Shout out to for the arca rail parts, and to for the barrel used in this experiment!
