After designing your project in EPANET, the next step is to prepare a bill of quantities (BOQ). In my opinion, determining the length of each pipe in your design can be quite challenging, especially when dealing with numerous nodes or large networks.

Therefore, knowing how to at least determine the length of each pipe diameter (if not a complete BOQ) is incredibly helpful.

I'm currently finalizing the editing of a tutorial that will teach you how to do just that! The tutorial will be uploaded before the weekend, so stay tuned!

In the meantime, you can check out my channel for more tutorials on EPANET/WaterGEMS here: https://www.youtube.com/

So far, at Hydroinformatics Academy, we have been talking about EPANET, WaterGEMS and GIS but it's been a while since we talked about Irrigation (nearly a year to be precise)!

In the next tutorial (which will be released within next week), we are going to cover how to estimate the required amount of water to irrigate a given farm which has more than 1 crop (see image below)!

Spoiler alert, CROPWAT and CLIMWAT Software will be used to achieve that! So stay tuned!

The idea behind Hydroinformatics Academy is to make sure that we apply modern technologies in the irrigation/water sector! Here is an example of a simple network that was prepared in QGIS by Engineer Lodrick Thomas, Even though there is room for improvement but what is your take on this?

As a Civil/Water Engineer, One of the key objectives you possibly had as a professional in 2022 was to strengthen your knowledge in various areas in your field (water sector)!

As the hydroinformatics Academy community, we feel proud that throughout 2022 we had been one of your key partners in achieving that objective.

We believe that we are going to proceed with the same objective of helping you as a professional in the water sector to improve your knowledge in the year 2023!

At hydroinformativs Academy, We are happy to have you as a community member and we'd like to take this opportunity to wish you a happy new year 2023!

Being an engineer is like being a lifelong learner, in short, there is no way you are going to run away from learning if you opt to be an engineer!

Since learning takes time and effort, if you want to learn efficiently as an engineer please watch this video as we covered various tricks that any engineer can apply in his/her learning journey:

Greetings!
Have you seen our latest tutorial on WaterGEMS Software? Well here is what it's all about...

Assume you have your design or model in WaterGEMS but you want to share your design with someone who has access to only EPANET (not WaterGEMS)!

The question is how will you be able to share your design in such a way someone with EPANET will be able to view it?

To find the answer to such a question watch our latest video here:

Let's say after designing your project in WaterGEMS software you want to export your project and share with someone to import in software like EPANET (who do...

Have you watched our latest tutorial? Well, we had a scenario about sizing water for a proposed rainwater harvesting system.

We talked about data preparation for WaterGEMS, how to run a model and solve various errors raised during the simulation and lastly how to get the required pump for the proposed system!

Visit our WaterGEMS pump playlist here and watch the 4th tutorial:

The main objective of Hydroinformatics Academy is and will always be to inspire the application of technology for smart water decisions!

But you can not talk about technology without talking about computer programming and if you refer to our 2022 roadmap video we pointed out that one of the fields that we might cover in 2022 is computer programming!

So with that in mind within a few coming weeks, apart from our normal tutorials, we might have some tutorials covering computer programming/coding as applied to solve simple problems in the water engineering field!

So stay tuned and have a good day over there🙏

It is a fact that if you opt to be an engineer you opt to be a lifelong learner.

As we observe changes in engineering, you need to put yourself in a position to learn and cope with new technologies (if we have any)!

With that in mind, I prepared a short video to share 6 strategies that one (engineer) can use to learn any engineering software!
