Akobo Minerals has today released its Q2 2025 results.

Highlights include continued production at Segele with world-class grades averaging 20+ g/t, progress on our vertical shaft development, and strengthened partnerships through Ethiopian Investment Holdings becoming a shareholder. We also completed a major financial restructuring with Monetary Metals & Co., positioning us for growth ahead.

We expect revenues to continue increasing in Q3 and anticipate delivering positive cash flow from operations for the first time.

Akobo Minerals ESG team, mark another milestone achievement on our journey to becoming a responsible mining operation that prioritises reducing, reusing and recycling of our waste.

One of our first achievements was production of ecobricks from used plastic water bottles and we are now excited to have completed our pilot on reusing our tailings to make Hydraform bricks, stabilised tailings and cement building blocks.

Gold mine tailings are historically considered a waste product of environmental concern. Further to a comprehensive characterization of our tailings to determine their physical and chemical characteristics, their inert nature suggested potential for reuse of this waste into useable products.

Working in partnership with Hydraform International (Pty) Ltd. International and hashtag , we have just completed our ‘proof of concept’ pilot to produce bricks from our tailings.

Hydraform specializes in low cost building technologies and working with them, in addition to reducing the cost of construction and upgrading of site offices and infrastructure, we hope to be able to improve the quality of the housing stock in our host community.

Building awareness - one ecobrick at a time
Kicking off our Sustainable Community Campaign, with a football match and community waste collection, Akobo Minerals celebrated the opening of Chamo Community Eco-Hub and Training Centre, constructed from discarded plastic bottles.

Over the last six months, Akobo Minerals ESG Team have been working with the community to actively raise awareness about healthy and sustainable environmental issues including reducing and reusing plastic waste, waste management, hygiene, and sanitation.

The community has collected more than ten thousand plastic bottles which have been repurposed as ‘eco bricks’ to construct a community training centre, actively demonstrating that plastic can have more value as a building tool than as a waste product.

The Chamo Eco Hub’s exciting programme of community training, developed in partnership with Dima Polytechnic, includes courses in enterprise development, financial literacy, artisanal mining and health promotion being delivered. This marks a milestone for Akobo Minerals and reduces a major obstacle for community access to lifelong learning and building a sustainable community.

Coordinator of this initiative, , ESG Team Leader said, “Already we are inspiring the community to reimagine uses of plastic bottles instead of throwing them away and polluting the environment…. We may have lost the football match but have won the hearts and minds of our community”

Akobo Minerals recently hosted a post graduate ecology researcher, Nicholas Dillon, from University of Oslo (UiO), through an academic exchange programme between University of Oslo (UiO) and Addis Ababa University.

Nick, reflecting on a month in the field, hosted by our ESG Team, studying the aquatic biodiversity of the Akobo River said “I spent a month in a tent, learnt so much and fell in love with the people, the climate and nature of the area as well as developing a taste for coffee”.

Commenting on the collaboration Cathryn MacCallum , Akobo Head of ESG said it was great to host Nick, to see the shared learning between him and our team and we look forward to supporting this academic exchange programme in future years.
