During the 2026 Women in STEM Conference, we celebrated our Cohort 5 mentors and mentees who completed the STEM Dadas Program. This picture features those who attended the conference in person, though our cohort 5 full graduate community composed a total of 47 mentees and 32 mentors.

We are proud of our graduates and excited to continue empowering the next generation of STEM leaders in Kenya and beyond.

This Easter, we are reminded that renewal often begins quietly with hope, with faith, and with the decision to keep showing up and building something better together.

At Dada STEM, this season reflects the work we do every day. Creating spaces where girls feel seen, supported, and confident enough to explore STEM, ask questions, and imagine futures they may not have thought possible before. Just as Easter speaks of new life and new beginnings, we believe in giving every girl the opportunity to grow, learn, and step into her potential.

As we celebrate this season, we also celebrate the resilience, curiosity, and courage of the girls and communities we work with who continue to inspire the future of STEM.

Happy Easter from the Dada STEM Team🤗

For the first time ever, Dada STEM unveiled its Strategic Plan 2026–2030 during the Women in STEM Conference 2026, marking a defining moment in our journey and a bold step into the future of our work.

This strategic direction sets the foundation for how we will grow, scale impact, and deepen our commitment to empowering women and girls in STEM over the next five years. It reflects our vision of building stronger systems, creating more opportunities, and expanding our reach both locally and globally.

The launch was officially led by our founder, Muchunku Kawira, who shared the heart behind the plan and the vision guiding this next chapter of Dada STEM.

Our panel discussion on Advancing Women-Led STEM Solutions from Local Innovation to Global Influence brought powerful insights on how women innovators can grow ideas from community solutions into global change.

We explored important questions about what it takes to scale impact, the barriers women face when trying to grow beyond their communities, and what support should look like from governments, funders, academia, and industry.

We also reflected on how African-led STEM solutions carry unique strength, creativity, and lived experience that can influence global development when given the right support.

Our second speaker, Dr. Mary Mwadulo, challenged us to think beyond borders with her powerful theme: Solve Local, Impact Global: Empowering Women and Girls in STEM Through Responsible Digital Engagement.

Dr. Mary Mwadulo broke it down into two game-changing conversations:

First, the responsible use of social media: urging us to be intentional with our voices, to share knowledge, build meaningful networks, and represent ourselves and our work with integrity. Because what we post doesn’t just stay online; it shapes opportunities, perceptions, and influence.

Second, the responsible use of Generative AI: encouraging us to embrace these powerful tools, but with awareness, ethics, and originality. She emphasized that AI should enhance our thinking, not replace it, and that credibility still lies in how we use these tools to create value.

Our first speaker, Stella Muthungu, engaged us on setting ourselves apart in STEM.

Stella Murugi Muthungu showed us that setting ourselves apart in STEM isn’t just for recognition. It builds confidence, opens doors, and positions us for opportunities we didn’t even know existed.

We set ourselves apart by going beyond the classroom by working on real life local problems, developing in-demand skills and also engaging in mentorship and networking.
