The global production capacity of bioplastics is likely to increase from 2.1 million tons in 2020 to approx 2.9 million tons by 2025. The VAMOS project will contribute to this growth through producing polylactic acid (PLA) from waste paper and card residual waste derived paper and card.

The VAMOS team are looking forward to a busy year, with the hydrolysis and downstream processing plant in Swansea set to be up and running in Q1 this year - transitioning from lab to demonstration scale.
