PrecisionPhage made it through all the elimination rounds in Tahko Ski Lift Pitch competition. During some of the rounds, the pitching happened floating midair, 10 meters above the ground - which definitely is the correct place for startup mindset.

Thanks for the great and fun event!

Nature still offers many types of goods that can resolve contemporary problems, such as antibiotic resistance. From an environmental standpoint, phages are naturally occurring and biodegradable, aligning with sustainable healthcare approaches. They don't introduce synthetic compounds into ecosystems, mitigating long-term environmental concerns.

Phages represent a sustainable approach to bacterial infections primarily due to their vast diversity and adaptability. Unlike antibiotics, where resistance can render a drug entirely ineffective, phages operate within a dynamic evolutionary framework. When bacteria evolve resistance to a particular phage, it's often a trade-off, making them susceptible to other phages.

This phenomenon is rooted in the co-evolutionary "arms race" between phages and bacteria. As bacteria develop defense mechanisms against certain phages, they may expose vulnerabilities that other phages can exploit. Given the immense diversity of phages in nature, researchers can potentially isolate or engineer alternative phages to target newly resistant bacterial strains.

In essence, the evolutionary interplay between phages and bacteria ensures a continually renewable reservoir of potential therapeutic agents, making phage therapy a sustainable approach in the face of bacterial resistance.
