Project Milestone in Textile Waste Upcycling!

As part of our Eurostars Eureka project in collaboration with Fiber Company, Norbite is proud to share a key breakthrough:
we’ve successfully digested a complex waste stream from textile recycling, provided by our partner.

This achievement marks a crucial step toward the biological upcycling of challenging fractions of textile waste — demonstrating the strength of our technology to valorize even demanding waste streams.

We’re excited to continue pushing the boundaries of circular innovation and to work alongside visionary partners like Infinited Fiber to make sustainable materials a reality.

Stay tuned for more progress updates!

🎉 One Year of Impact: Insect Biorefinery in the Spotlight! 🪲

It’s been a year since the publication of the book “Green Chemistry and Agro-food Industry: Towards a Sustainable Bioeconomy”, edited by Baumberger (AgroParisTech) and published by .

We’re proud that Norbite's CEO, Nathalie Berezina, contributed a chapter on insect biorefineries — a bold vision for circularity and sustainability.

📚 Since its release, the book has:
âś… Been accessed online nearly 6,000 times
âś… Received 6 citations in academic literature
âś… Sparked conversations across the green chemistry and bioeconomy communities

This milestone celebrates not just a publication, but a growing movement toward innovative, nature-inspired solutions to the world’s waste and resource challenges.

Over 1 million species of insects have been documented to date and the use of insects by humans is not new (food colorants from cochineal insects, honey from bees, silkworm pupae used in animal feed). Insects offer numerous advantages for the development of new...

🌍🚀 Turning Waste into Food – for Earth and Space! 🚀🌍

One of the biggest challenges for a sustainable long-term presence in space is ensuring on-site food production. Imagine a future where waste is no longer waste—but a resource!

In an episode of the "Har vi åkt till Mars än?" podcast, hosted by Media AB, our CEO Nathalie Berezina shares how is pioneering the use of wax moth larvae to break down and transform plastic waste into food—a game-changing innovation for both space and Earth!

🔬 She is joined by Blomqvist, astro-agronomist at the Aerospace Center (DLR), who explores how we can build a self-sustaining bioeconomy on the Moon and Mars.

🎙️ The interviews were conducted by Pettersson, CEO of Rundfunk Media AB.

From tackling plastic pollution to enabling circular food production beyond our planet, this research is paving the way for the future. Could insects be the key to a sustainable Mars bar? 🌱🍫
