MotoPOD LLC Ground transportation solutions... upgrades for your airplane and lifestyle. Are you a motorcycle pi www.MotorcyclePilot.com

MotoPOD LLC was founded in 2007 to provide pilots with game-changing ground transportation solutions. The Company makes a patented motorcycle carrier that allows pilots to carry a street-legal motorcycle beneath their personal airplane. After landing, it takes just 90 seconds to remove the motorcycle, unfold the handlebars and ride away. The Company also makes removable cargo pods for bicycles, sk

is, golf clubs and other bulky items. The unique "top-loading" design accepts items up to 8ft in length, without any need to squeeze them through a small door or hatch. More recently, the Company introduced a swappable sensor pod to carry EO/IR sensors, LIDAR, Wide Area Surveillance Systems, Cell Repeaters, Speakers and more. Because of the removable design, it is now possible to reconfigure an airplane, in under a minute, for a wide variety of missions.

Part-23 Update:

Already a year overdue, the FAA has finalized the Part 23 rewrite and we expect it to be signed into law later this year. The old Part 23 was basically a recipe for 1950’s airplanes and it created challenges for new technology and innovation. Under the new rules, MotoPOD LLC expects more opportunities to bring new ideas into the world of certified aircraft.

Back in 2013, we were embarking on some challenging certification projects when Congress passed the Small Airplane Revitalization Act, which required the FAA to revise the certification requirements for small airplanes. At that time, we decided to postpone certification efforts and to focus on special mission projects and other areas of the business. Now that the Part 23 rewrite is finalized, we’re busy evaluating how to best resume our certification efforts under the new rules. Stay tuned for more updates on this later in the year.

The FAA has released a final rule that reforms small aircraft certification standards with groundbreaking new provisions that allow manufacturers to use performance-based, industry-consensus standards in place of the “prescriptive” manufacturing methods that have long hindered development of new des...

FUNNY STORY: The Pilatus PC-24 costs $8.9 million and has a gross weight above 17,000 pounds. This utilitarian aircraft features a large cargo door and Pilatus boasts the ability to carry a motorcycle.

The conversation went something like this:

Me: That's pretty cool! How do you load the motorcycle?
Sales Rep: With a forklift.
Me: Wow! So it can carry a motorcycle AND a forklift?
Sales Rep: No, just the motorcycle.
Me: Well that doesn't sound very useful.

The Aeromobile prototype crashed this morning. The pilot survived, thanks to the airframe parachute system. Roadable aircraft are inherently compromised vehicles and each design has interesting, and sometimes dangerous quirks.

While roadable aircraft designers struggle to make airplanes drive, MotoPOD LLC is working to help pilots (not airplanes!) reach their destination. This simple goal is satisfied by carriage of a motorcycle which MotoPOD LLC has made safe and convenient. This approach provides pilots with practical door-to-door transportation and little compromise.

During a test flight on Friday, Aeromobil s flying-car prototype crashed, after the pilot, designer Stefan Klein, pulled the parachute.

We recently flew this custom sensor pod for a $1.5 million wide area surveillance system. Other sensor pods are in development for EO/IR, Lidar, speakers and other payloads. The 60-second removable design allows plug-and-play mission capability.
