Shop Update: the team is hustling!

Lead times are currently 5–6 weeks, and our small-but-mighty team is hard at work turning sheets of aluminum into adventure ready homes on wheels. Every camper is built right here in our Bellingham, WA shop, with real people behind every rivet, wire, and finishing touch.

Thanks for keeping us busy & enjoy the weekend!

We reached out to Kimbo owners #562 to see how life on the road has been since moving into their Kimbo 6 last September.

We love seeing that small, simple living doesn’t hold these two back from a big lifestyle full of adventure!

Their setup:

• 200 watts of solar

• Bluetti AC70 paired with a Bluetti Apex 300 and Charger 2 connected to the alternator for charging while driving

• 21-quart BougeRV fridge

• Dickinson propane heater

• Custom drawer system under the camper (72” L × 48” W × 7.5” H) for extra storage and to clear the truck cab

• BFG KO3 315/70R17 tires

• VersaHaul dual-tray hitch rack for the motos

• 1Up bike rack up front

• Coleman two burner stove they’ve been using for 14 years

• Two pit mixes that take up most of the bed but are always ready for a cuddle

One thing they’d do differently?

“We wish we would have added the swivel table and storage module!”

The first thing we almost always hear when someone steps inside a Kimbo 6 is, “Wow, it’s roomier than I thought it would be,” usually followed by, “and it’s so cozy!”

That balance of space and comfort is something we hear all the time from first time visitors.

If you’ve been intrigued by Kimbo and want to see one for yourself, we would love to connect you with our owner network. Many are happy to show off their campers. You can also come see us at one of the events we are attending this year, or visit us at our HQ in Bellingham, WA.

We offer full factory tours that show what we mean by hand-built in the USA and the purpose and intentionality behind each build. Reach out and we’ll help you take the next step, whether that’s seeing one at an event, touring HQ, or connecting with an owner near you!

🎉 This spring, we delivered Kimbo #600!! 🎉

And to us, the best way to celebrate that milestone is by celebrating the owners behind it: Joe + Brian!

Owners #600 feel like a perfect representation of what Kimbo has always been about: simplicity, capability, and building a life around the places you want to go.

“Our inspiration to own a Kimbo: We’ve had a VW camper van and a Tab trailer, and trailers are a hassle. The VWs don’t get us into the rugged mountains we love, plus our lifestyle demands that we have a truck for our projects, but at the same time we don’t want to drive a huge truck. We love our Tacoma 4 door short bed. Then along comes Kimbo, the perfect camper option that works with our Tacoma.”

Based between Hope, Idaho and Stanley, Idaho each summer, Joe and Brian regularly turn the 8 hour drive between the two into its own adventure.

“We once turned the 8 hour drive into a 6 day all dirt roads trip. We want to do it again with the Kimbo.”

They’re already planning trips into the Selway Crags, climbing in the Bitterroots near Hamilton, Montana, and eventually an Alaska loop using the ferry system. Canada, the desert southwest, and maybe one day Nova Scotia are all on the list too.

And true to form, they built their camper around how they actually travel:

“You’ll see in the pics we chose a 20 inch bench across to make the seating much more lounge-able for us. We’re minimalists, so we didn’t do the fridge, but we love the heater and the simple sink and counter space. Our fancy Tab trailer drove us crazy with all its high tech systems. We wanted stress free.”

We’ve never wanted Kimbo to feel disposable or overbuilt with things people don’t actually need. The goal has always been to build something simple, durable, and deeply loved. Something that becomes part of your life over time. Something that collects stories.

To everyone who’s been part of this community so far, thank you. We genuinely could not do this without you!

Here’s to the first 600 adventures and the thousands of memories made!

We checked in with Kimbo owner #590, Sebastian, to see how his first night in his new Kimbo 6 went:

“Parked right by the river in the National Forest about 45 minutes outside Leavenworth. 30°F overnight and the diesel heater worked like magic, slept right through the night with no overheating. Perfect night’s sleep. Misty’s settling in just right.”

Welcome to the Kimbo community, Sebastian!

.eyssimont got her Kimbo just in time for one last late season storm!

Even as we transition into summer pursuits, it’s hard not to appreciate the rolling coziness of the Kimbo 6 on a day like this.

The Kimbo 6 currently has a 6 week build time! That’s just in time for those 4th of July plans!
