Behind the breakthrough
A quick lesson from someone who’s built it, lived it, or learned it the hard way.

David Jacoby has spent the past 30 years breaking into companies. Ethically, of course.

His biggest lesson? Cybersecurity isn’t about adding more technology. It’s about understanding where things can go wrong. Instead of focusing on firewalls and tools, look for the gaps between your systems, processes, and the people using them. That’s where vulnerabilities hide.

According to Jacoby, the strongest defence isn’t more complexity, it’s knowing where the cracks are before someone else finds them.

Every breakthrough starts with one question: what if?

What if there’s a better way?
What if we challenge the status quo?
What if we’re capable of more than we imagine today?

The future isn’t built by people with all the answers. It’s build by those curious enough to keep asking questions — and courageous enough to reinvent themselves.

That was the message behind SuperNova 2026. The opening movie is a reminder that change takes courage.

So reinvent yourself.
And never mind what people say.

Behind the breakthrough
A quick lesson from someone who’s built it, lived it, or learned it the hard way.

Explaining complex topics is hard. Making people care about them is even harder. Unless your name is Kristin Fisher.

After a decade covering the White House and leading space coverage at CNN, she learned that audiences don’t connect with jargon — they connect with honesty, emotion, and stories that feel human.

Her formula is surprisingly simple: lose the insider language, talk about the struggles, and make people feel something. Especially now, in the age of AI, that human layer matters more than ever.

Behind the breakthrough
A quick lesson from someone who’s built it, lived it, or learned it the hard way.

Enter Marie Outtier, entrepreneur, investor, and author of “Exit”. She built and sold an AI company to Twitter and now backs founders as a general partner in a €60M deep tech fund.

Her biggest lesson? Most exits don’t fail at the end, they fail at the start. Because it eventually comes down to misalignment. Often, founders and investors aren’t aiming for the same outcome: one is thinking life-changing freedom, the other is thinking 10x or 100x fund returns. And by the time that gap shows up, it’s already too late to fix it.

Watch the full story to hear why it matters to ask the hard questions early on.

“Instead of saying, “this is too hard, I’m going to take a break,” successful people use that moment as fuel to grow.” — Nir Eyal

In this Polestar Conversation, Nir Eyal reframes how we think about discomfort: not as a signal to stop, but as a trigger to move forward.

A shift in mindset — but one that changes everything.

Have a listen.

“Good is the enemy of great. We fall asleep in comfort more easily than we think.” — Conny Vandendriessche

In this Polestar Conversation, Conny Vandendriessche shares what it really takes to stay relevant as an entrepreneur: reinventing yourself continuously, surrounding yourself with people who challenge you, and never settling for “good”. Because growth doesn’t come from comfort — it comes from pushing beyond it.

“The biggest successes come from embracing discomfort. Because comfort can make you less inventive.” — Boris Bogaert

In this Polestar Conversation, Boris Bogaert reflects on what it really takes to keep evolving: staying uncomfortable, surrounding yourself with the right people, and knowing when it’s time to question your own path.

“The best plan B is not having a plan B. Because the moment you have one, you stop going all-in on plan A.”

Listen to Lode Uytterschaut (Founder & CEO of Start it ) as he shares his take on reinvention: not as a single defining moment, but as something you build in the everyday life.

By staying (naively) open to learn and committing yourself fully, you don’t just change what you do — you get closer to who you are.

Part of the Polestar Conversations recorded at SuperNova 2026.

“Evidence comes before belief.
Sometimes, you just have to do it. Because once you see yourself doing something you never thought you could, you realize you can push further.” — Marie Outtier

In this Polestar Conversation, Marie Outtier shares a powerful reminder: reinvention starts with action, even before you fully believe you’re ready.
