This tallest building on the campus reached its final height of 225 feet and we were thrilled to welcome President Barak Obama himself, who added his signature to a beam. 👏👏

In May 2024, Lakeside Alliance achieved a major construction milestone on the Obama Presidential Center site: the topping out of the Museum Building at its final height of 225 feet. Check this out! 🎥Great overview video celebrating the Museum Building—the tallest building on campus—reaching its final height of 225 feet, overlooking Jackson Park. 👏👏 This large, complex build at the has been made possible by our teams at Concrete Collective and all the partners listed in the video.

The video shows picturesque visuals since May 2022, some impressive stats, and footage of former President Barak Obama himself adding his signature to a beam which will be part of the Sky Room ceiling.

👉 Between ironworkers, carpenters, laborers and finishers, 80 individuals contributed to this milestone
👉 There were 18,000 cubic yards of concrete placed in the Museum Building and 1,842 tons of rebar
👉 Over 300,000 workforce hours were spent on the Museum Building to-date

Thank you for everyone’s safe and diligent work, from Lakeside Alliance to all the other workforce and partners who helped the team reach this historic milestone.

Last week on a rainy day at the project, our team facilitated a rigging and signaling safety training session for tradespeople on site. Thanks to W.E. O'Neil Construction's Safety Manager, Nick Lane, for facilitating and making the most of a weather day!

Our second of three tower cranes is now up at the ! This crane will help us build the concrete structure for the project’s main museum tower, which will become a historic civic destination when co for more as we begin pouring foundations for the tower!

Making this week’s gloomy skies brighter with the addition of a new tower crane to Chicago’s skyline! This crane is positioned to pour the concrete structure of the parking garage component of the , and is the first of our team’s three tower cranes to go up on the site.
