Yesterday, the team successfully tested the new base station (BARNACLE) and underwater wireless charging of Icefin! BARNACLE development was lead by former undergraduate Henry Wolf and is an autonomous docking station for Icefin that will allow us to recharge the vehicle underwater, eliminating the need to redeploy it between missions.

Icefin is successfully docked into the base station.

Icefin needs to be driven into the correct position for the charger to be deployed.

A positive battery current means Icefin is charging!
