WSJT-X 3.0.0 GA Release

The WSJT Development Team is pleased to announce WSJT-X 3.0.0, our first General Availability (GA) release since version 2.7.0 in February 2025. The installation packages also include QMAP v0.6 and MAP65 v3.2. Major enhancements are summarized in the Release Notes.

Most of the enhancements will be already familiar to those who have used Release Candidate WSJT-X 3.0.0-rc1.

We have moved our development work to a new repository at GitHub, https://github.com/WSJTX/wsjtx . Please let us know if you are interested in contributing to this open source project.

A new WSJT Home Page can be found at https://wsjtx.github.io/wsjtx/index.html .

At least in the near future, we will continue to maintain web pages and download links at SourceForge: https://wsjt.sourceforge.io/wsjtx.html .

Farsebook has decided that links to WSJTX count as a “Cybersecurity Violation” - if you can, I’d encourage you to give FB feedback about what nonsense this is.

“WSJT-X 2.7.0 GA Release

The WSJT Development Team is pleased to announce the WSJT-X 2.7.0 General Availability (GA) release. This is the first GA release since version 2.6.1, two years ago. Major enhancements include a new companion program called QMAP, new Special Operating Activities called “Q65 Pileup” and “SuperFox”, and a new “Message System” feature designed for sending requests to change to another band or mode. More details can be found in the Release Notes here: https://wsjt.sourceforge.io/Release_Notes.txt .

Direct links for downloading pre-built installation packages for Windows, Linux, and macOS can be found on the WSJT-X web page: https://wsjt.sourceforge.io/wsjtx.html. For those who like to compile from source, a complete source-code tarball is available there as well.

Please note: A few changes and updates to the WSJT-X User Guide are still to be completed.
If you will be translating the User Guide to another language, please wait for an announcement that the updated English guide is ready and available online.

From the WSJTX Development team (as a reminder: RELEASE CANDIDATES ARE NOT GENERAL USE PROGRAMS. IF YOU ARE NOT WILLING TO PARTICIPATE IN REPORTING DEFECTS (AFTER REVIEWING THE LIST OF ALREADY REPORTED DEFECTS), YOUR BEST BET IS TO STICK TO THE GENERAL AVAILABILITY VERSIONS):

“Release Candidate WSJT-X 2.7.0-rc8

Dear WSJT-X Users,

We are pleased to announce that Release Candidate WSJT-X 2.7.0-rc8 is ready for download and use by beta testers. This revision introduces a new Message System primarily intended for contests. Otherwise, RC8 is
mostly a bug-fix release of the well-functioning RC7.

The WSJT-X Message System can be used to invite your QSO partner to QSY
to another frequency or mode (e.g. during contests), or to send some
general short messages. It consists of the Message Creator and the QSY
Monitor. Received messages are displayed as popups. To understand how to
use the Message System, be sure to read Section 8 of the updated WSJT-X
User Guide for RC8.

Additional details on program changes since RC7 can be found in the
Release Notes:
https://wsjt.sourceforge.io/wsjtx-doc/Release_Notes_2.7.0-rc8.txt

Release Candidates are intended for beta testers. If you download and
use WSJT-X 2.7.0-rc8, please provide relevant feedback on the new
features and anything that does not seem to work properly for you. If
your report involves something related to received signals, be sure to
provide one or more saved *.wav files that illustrate the perceived
problem. As a general matter, you should use the option "Save all" when
testing.

Direct links to installation packages for Windows, Linux, and macOS can
be found on the WSJT-X page https://wsjt.sourceforge.io/wsjtx.html
Scroll down to the heading "Candidate release: WSJT-X 2.7.0-rc8".

For those who like to compile from source, a source-code tarball is
available on the WSJT-X page.

find bugs or make improvements to the code, please report them to us in
a timely fashion.

The authors and Copyright holders of WSJT-X request that derivative
works should not publish programs based on features in WSJT-X before
those features are made available in a General Availability (GA) release
of WSJT-X. Currently this caution applies to all SuperFox and SuperHound
features. We will cease making public Release Candidates if this request
is ignored.

Feedback should be sent to this email list or one of the of the others
mentioned here in the User Guide:
https://wsjt.sourceforge.io/wsjtx-doc/wsjtx-main-2.7.0-rc8.html

We hope you will enjoy using WSJT-X 2.7.0-rc8, and that you will help us
to create a new General Availability (GA) release soon.

From the WSJTX development team:

Release Candidate WSJT-X 2.7.0-rc7

Dear WSJT-X Users,

We are pleased to announce that Release Candidate WSJT-X 2.7.0-rc7 is ready for download and use by beta testers. This revision has many improvements to SuperFox mode: better decoding, more reliable message sequencing, and an open source, cryptographically sound verification scheme for Fox transmissions.

On-the-air tests have shown that SuperFox is capable of sustained QSO rates well in excess of 300 per hour. We heartily recommend that future DXpeditions expecting to make very large numbers of QSOs should use SuperFox. Instructions for usage can be found in the SuperFox User Guide:https://wsjt.sourceforge.io/SuperFox_User_Guide.pdf

Additional details on program changes since RC6 can be found in the Release Notes:
