High Spec is proud to sponsor Team Bardwell – a fantastic, student-led racing kart team delivered through the national STEM On Track programme, facilitated by The Engineering Trust at Bardwell School, Bicester.

Through this inspiring initiative, students at Bardwell School will design, build and showcase a fully functioning racing kart. Along the way, they’ll develop practical engineering skills, confidence, teamwork, and real-world workplace behaviours.

Most importantly, this project provides young people with SEND the opportunity to engage in meaningful, hands-on STEM learning - opening doors to future careers and demonstrating what can be achieved with the right support.

We’re delighted to play a small part in powering the next generation of engineers.

At High Spec, are much more than a training route - they’re part of our DNA. We are proud to embed award-winning apprenticeship pathways throughout our business, helping develop real world , strengthen our team, and support growth across the wider and sectors.

We’ve seen fantastic success rates at both Intermediate and Advanced levels, and we’ve had the privilege of helping launch many careers in industries where talent and practical experience are truly valued. 🏎️

What a truly energising week it’s been at High Spec! ✨

We’ve had the perfect mix of industry impact, community spirit, and meaningful collaboration. Highlights include:

🏛️ A visit to the House of Commons

On Thursday last week, Matt and Sarah joined leaders from across Oxfordshire to celebrate Advanced Manufacturing and discuss the infrastructure our sector needs to thrive in the years ahead.

🏃 A memorable weekend at Silverstone Circuit

Our team and families then came together in memory of Chris Jaycock, marking 15 years of High Spec and raising funds for 12 local charities as part of the Raise'25 initiative. A heartfelt day with a powerful purpose.

💫 The Raise 25 Finale at Rhodes House

Yesterday we joined the businesses and charities involved in Raise 25 for an inspiring celebration of what collective effort can achieve. A brilliant moment to reflect and connect. Our director Matt even entertained attendees with a memorable rendition of Santa Claus Is Coming to Town — a moment that definitely won’t be forgotten!

Our biggest takeaway?

When we collaborate - across industries, across organisations, and across our community - we create something stronger, more resilient, and truly impactful. 💙

We’re just one week away from High Spec’s run at Silverstone! The team, along with our families, will be hitting the track in memory of our dad, friend, and colleague, Chris, and we can’t wait to do him proud.

We’re still a fair way off our £500 fundraising target, so any support - big or small - would mean a lot. Even a quick share helps!

🏎️ Driving Innovation: High Spec join Future Mobility Roundtable with UK Ambassador to the EU

Earlier this week, our directors Sarah and Matt were proud to represent High Spec at the UK Government’s Domestic Roadshow in Oxfordshire, led by His Majesty’s Ambassador to the EU, Lindsay Croisdale-Appleby.

The day brought together leading businesses in mobility and advanced engineering at Bicester Motion — a fantastic opportunity to share insights and explore new possibilities for growth across European markets.

From roundtable discussions to networking at Blenheim Palace, it was inspiring to see so many innovative organisations showcasing the strength and ambition of Oxfordshire. And yes, Sarah even had the exciting opportunity to drive a Ferrari Testa Rossa J around the historic grounds at Bicester Motion ✨

We’re grateful to Oxfordshire County Council for the invitation and proud to play our part in shaping conversations about international trade, collaboration, and future growth.

💙 RUNNING FOR CHRIS 💙

Earlier this year we announced that in November our High Spec team and families would be taking on Run Silverstone – not to chase personal bests, but to celebrate the values that have carried us through 15 years:
🤝 Teamwork
🏘️ Community focus
👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Family spirit
🏎️ A passion for motorsport

Following the very recent loss of our dad, friend, and colleague Chris Jaycock, this challenge now carries even greater meaning. Chris embodied these values every day – always ready to roll up his sleeves, lend a hand, and support those around him. We’ll be running together in celebration of his life and the impact he had on others.

Through the outpouring of messages and condolences, we’ve come to realise how much of a positive impact Chris had not just within our lives and business, but on so many people he met and worked with over the years. We hope that by supporting 10 incredible local charities as part of B4's Raise'25, we too can make a real difference here in Oxfordshire.

Out of respect for his well-known “no fuss, no nonsense” approach, I’ll keep this relatively short.

It is with the heaviest of hearts that we share the passing of Chris Jaycock, who sadly lost his courageous battle with cancer yesterday afternoon.

To many, Chris was the first face you’d see and a big character within High Spec. To Matt Jaycock, he was Dad; to me, a much-loved father-in-law and Grampy to our children; and to our team and so many others, a loyal colleague and true friend.

It was Chris who first introduced Matt to composites many years ago — setting us on the path we’re travelling today. That legacy, along with the passion and work ethic he installed, is woven into everything we do.

Chris could be a little grouchy at times, a trait we strangely loved him for, and he never liked a fuss - he was often referred to as ‘old school’ and with that he was always the first to roll up his sleeves and step in when a job needed to be done, or when someone needed help.

There will forever be a Chris-shaped hole in our company, our team, and most poignantly, our lives. We’ll do everything we can to honour his memory and make him proud.
