STEP - Small Town Energy Program STEP began in our area when the Town of University Park was awarded a three-year grant by the US Department of Energy in July 2010.

The Small Town Energy Program (STEP) is a program that aims to transform the way residents of University Park, Hyattsville, Riverdale Park and College Heights Estates use energy in their homes. The program expanded to the neighboring towns of Hyattsville, Riverdale Park and College Heights Estates in June 2012. The goals of the program are to transform the way residents use energy in their homes,

and also to serve as a model for other small towns. The program includes comprehensive energy assessments for homes, financial incentives for residents to implement energy efficiency recommendations, and the support of an Energy Coach to help you every STEP of the way.
