Messer Cutting Systems, North America Messer Cutting Systems is a premier manufacturer of plasma, oxyfuel and laser thermal cutting gantry machines. The cutting machine line designed by Mr.

Messer Cutting Systems began in 1955 under the name CRO Engineering. CRO stood for the first names of the founding partners, Carl, Rudy, and Orville. CRO began as a specialty machine tool builder addressing one-of-a-kind applications. Rudy Kleine would be known as the "Mono Trak" stemming from the center-mounted round long axis rail. This machine was photo-optically controlled and used an aluminum

transverse beam and main carriage. Hundreds of these Mono Trak machines were sold in the 1960s. Additionally, a profile milling machine was developed based on the same frame. This machine was called a "Profi-Mill" and was purchased by major aircraft builders throughout the world. CRO Engineering pioneered many of the fundamental applications which are common today such as NC control, CNC control, and laser cutting. In 1969 CRO Engineering delivered the first American-built numerically controlled LASER cutting machine for shape-cutting titanium in the aerospace industry. In 1968, CRO displayed the first American-built plasma arc gantry cutting machine controlled by an NC system. The machine was shown at the welding fair in Essen Germany. Messer Griesheim GmbH noticed the machine, and realizing that CRO could be a new competitor, purchased the company in 1973. Messer Griesheim then changed the name of CRO to MG Cutting Systems. Today, MG Cutting Systems is identified as Messer Cutting Systems, a subsidiary of Messer Cutting & Welding GmbH of Frankfurt Germany. Before that, it was known as MG Systems & Welding. Messer Cutting Systems is a global manufacturer with production facilities in the United States, Germany, India, Brazil, and the Peoples Republic of China. Company sales and service centers are located throughout the world to support customer operations. Messer Cutting Systems offers a complete line of plasma, laser, and oxyfuel cutting equipment. Also available are many productivity enhancing products including programming and nesting software, material handling equipment, and cutting tables. Messer Cutting Systems is a Global Company.

⭐ More Than Just a Sticker: What "Built in Wisconsin" Actually Means

When we say our machines are "Precision Built in Wisconsin," we aren't just talking about a final assembly point. We’re talking about a team acting as one with relentless commitment to each machine and customer.

For over 70 years, we’ve operated as a true manufacturer. We don’t just put the pieces together; we own the machine's entire lifecycle. We design and custom-engineer machines tailored to our customers' specific project goals. We verify application requirements and layout through close & detailed discussions with our clients.

🛠️ Fabrication & Machining: Messer WI houses its own paint booth, machine shop, UL-certified electrical shop, welding operations, mechanical assembly, PIC, and quality assurance. Sheet metal bending/forming happens outside our walls, which saves on floor space, lowers project costs, and supports proven local suppliers.

👉 Assembly & Prove-Out: Machines are assembled and tested in Wisconsin to ensure American reliability. Some might say our machines are "overbuilt”, but this is exactly the rugged durability essential to the markets and environments our customers operate in every day.

Why does this matter to you? It's Local Accountability. Because we are designed, engineered, and built in Wisconsin, our support is central and committed. When you have a question, you aren’t calling a remote outpost, you’re calling the people who saw your machine through every stage of its creation.

🌍 Global Strength: We combine this local heartbeat with the collective knowledge and resources of Messer Cutting Systems worldwide. As a global company, we leverage premium components and engineering to ensure we’re providing world-class machinery solutions.

We’ve been asked if "Assembled" or "Manufactured" feels more true. To us, the truth is in the jobs we create, the relationships we build, and the customers we serve.

Precision Built | U.S.A. Supported | Global Strength 💪
