Kruger enters a new line of business – a Canadian first 👏
Kruger is investing $333 million to enter the biodegradable nonwoven materials sector, targeting the wipes market — a first in Canada.
To bring this major project to life, a new production line will be built in Trois Rivières, on Île-de-la-Potherie, adjacent to the Kruger Wayagamack mill. Start up is scheduled for 2028.
Among the most eco friendly products in the industry
- Made from 100% natural wood fibres,
- Free of plastic and chemical additives,
- Fully biodegradable and compostable.
Thanks to a state of the art hybrid production line—unique in the country—Kruger will be able to manufacture custom wipes (wet or dry) tailored to a wide range of uses.
Tangible benefits for the Mauricie region
For over 50 years, Kruger has been firmly established in Trois Rivières, and this new investment will create 56 permanent jobs, bringing the total workforce in the Mauricie region to nearly 700 employees.
The official announcement was held today in the presence of municipal, provincial and federal elected officials, union partners and members of the Kruger team.
