It's seasonal, burglaries on the rise this time of the year, some of it stems from organised crime group, u only see the pawns on the street, they are aware that during festive time people have many valuables under tree and growing, they know you are likely to go away so house will be empty, so why not test the water, so
1. use smart lights these can be programmed based on sunset as opposed to timers which have a pattern thieves are aware of. smart lights can also be switched on/off over wifi/gsm4g3g
2. protect your house with alarms, have a siren box conspicuous in front and perhaps rear of house they can be dummy boxes, 3. lock doors Windows and your cars
3. fit glass break sensors on every rear glass panels they are cheap and do a great job as scarecrow too and very loud
4. driveway and gardens, light them up use LED flood lights, they have sensors and only work in hours of darkness, they are cheap to run as they are Led and cheap to buy, a pair around £13 at Screw-fix
5. intel: regardless of perpetrators wearing masks or not, my experience in investigation shows that, they always cover up on approach, only, which means, if they are heading for number 40 from 30, as they walk past they would be captured in their neighbours CCTV, same goes for vehicles etc, police use all videos to put together a Intel map of what's going on and create a profile. I think you get the idea that CCTV network is useful, so we need more.
6. That said the deferment ones will get in and will find a way, generally speaking those determined types, are only interested in high value vehicles parked on driveway, they want the car keys, jewelries etc.
