❌ MYTH: If a crane is rated for 15 tonnes, it can safely lift 15 tonnes in any situation.

✅ FACT: A crane's Safe Working Load (SWL) depends on much more than the weight of the load. Factors such as lift radius, load distribution, lifting accessories, environmental conditions and the lifting plan all play a vital role in ensuring a safe lift.

🚫 Myth vs Fact ✅

Myth: If lifting equipment isn't broken, it's safe to use.

Fact: Not every defect is visible to the naked eye.

Over time, lifting equipment can experience metal fatigue, internal cracking and wear that isn't immediately obvious during a quick visual check.

That's why regular inspections, testing and preventative maintenance are such an important part of safe lifting operations. They help identify potential issues before they become costly or dangerous.

🌊 Engineering Innovation Supporting Renewable Energy

At Mona Lifting, we're proud to have played a part in advancing the future of clean energy through innovative engineering solutions.

For the first prototype of the Minesto DG500 "Deep Green" project, our team was responsible for the design, development, manufacture and commissioning of a bespoke Launch and Recovery System (LARS) Catcher. This pioneering work formed part of the early development of Minesto's tidal energy technology, which has since evolved into the company's commercial programme in the Faroe Islands, where the technology continues to be developed and deployed.

The DG500 tidal kite generates renewable energy by "flying" underwater through tidal currents at speeds of up to 20 knots. Our LARS Catcher was engineered to securely hold the umbilical tether aboard the service vessel, enabling safe and efficient connection and disconnection during launch and recovery operations.
