The Carpentries - Software, Data, and Library Carpentry Data Carpentry, Library Carpentry, and Software Carpentry teach scientists and other researchers data management and computational skills.

The mission of Data, Library, and Software Carpentry (collectively The Carpentries) is to help scientists and engineers get more research done in less time and with less pain by teaching them basic lab skills for scientific computing. Our workshops cover basic concepts and tools, including program design, version control, data management, and task automation. Participants are encouraged to help one another and to apply what they have learned to their own research problems.

On 20 October 2023, we announced on our social media pages that as of that date, all our social media engagements will be from our Mastodon, LinkedIn and accounts, and none from our five Twitter/X accounts. Leaving Twitter/X was due to the negative impact on our community of developments we had observed at Twitter/X over the past year.

For the purposes of realigning and streamlining our communications, we also decided to retire this page at the same time. However, we mistakenly did not post an announcement alerting you of this decision on this page. Please accept our sincere apologies for this oversight.

A non-profit Board of Directors is a group of individuals elected to govern and oversee the organisation’s operations.
