Training today, transforming tomorrow.

At Marula Community Chrome (MCC), we know that the best way to fight unemployment is to equip our youth with real, practical skills that open doors to opportunity. Through our apprenticeship and skills development programmes, young men and women from our six host communities are being trained in solar installation, electrical work, and business skills, preparing them for jobs or to start their own enterprises.

These programmes are not just about training, they’re about creating futures and restoring hope. Every skill learned means one more young person empowered, one more family supported, and one more step toward a self-reliant community.

Together, we’re building a generation of innovators, professionals, and changemakers.

Watch how MCC is helping our youth power their own future.

At Marula Community Chrome (MCC), we believe in standing with our communities and supporting initiatives that uplift lives. We are proud to have supported an event hosted by Ditijaneng Group, in partnership with Tebatso Kids Foundation, aimed at creating opportunities for children and strengthening the wider community. Through this initiative, food parcels were distributed to 80 households, including orphanages and people living with disabilities, a meaningful reminder that compassion and collaboration can overcome any obstacle.

We extend our sincere appreciation to all partners and community members who made this event possible. Together, we continue to drive positive impact, dignity, and hope across our communities.

With the 2026 Mining Indaba concluded, our Chairman Dr Kinesh Pather reflects on a defining week for MCC.

“This year, we did not attend alone. We stood alongside the Marula Community Chrome board, representatives of the six host communities that are home to Makgomo Chrome operations. Communities must not be spoken about; they must speak for themselves.”

“Community ownership is not charity. It is dignity, participation, and shared value.”

For MCC, this Mining Indaba was not just about presence, it was about partnership, voice and reshaping how mining engages with communities.

WATCH: Our Chairman, Dr. Kinesh Pather joined SABC News at the Mining Indaba , alongside MCC Board members representing six host communities that are home to Makgomo Chrome operations, to speak about community ownership and inclusion in mining. The message is clear - community ownership is not CSR, it's real participation and a seat at the table for the people whose land makes mining possible.

A meaningful moment at the Africa Mining Indaba.

Limpopo Premier Phophi Ramathuba visited the Makgomo Chrome stand, where she engaged with Marula Community Chrome (MCC) representatives and took time to hear directly from community voices. The conversation reflected the growing importance of community ownership, inclusion, and shared value in the mining sector - particularly for provinces like Limpopo, where mining and communities are deeply interconnected.

This engagement underscores the role of partnerships between government, industry, and communities in building sustainable development that benefits people on the ground.

Live from Mining Indaba, Marula Community Chrome (MCC) representatives joined SAfmRadio for an in-depth discussion on community ownership and inclusion in the mining industry.

Broadcast directly from the Indaba, the interview highlighted how MCC’s ownership model ensures communities are active participants in mining with a voice in value creation, decision-making, and long-term development.

Moments like these matter. They show that community-centred mining is not just a concept, but a lived reality, one that deserves a national platform and ongoing dialogue.

As Day 1 of the Mining Indaba continues, Marula Community Chrome (MCC) remains firmly in the spotlight. MCC representatives, together with our Chairperson Dr Kinesh Pather, were interviewed by SABC News , sharing insights on community ownership in the mining industry.

The engagement highlighted how MCC’s ownership model ensures communities are not on the margins of mining, but are active participants in decision-making, value creation, and long-term development.

We’re proud to see community-centred mining taking centre stage in national conversations and we look forward to continuing these important discussions throughout the Indaba.

Day 1 of the Mining Indaba is officially underway, and Marula Community Chrome (MCC) is proud to be part of the conversation from the very start.

Pictured here is Mr. Oupa Kgoete, representing MCC as the community shareholder, being interviewed at the Makgomo Chrome stand. Mr Kgoete shared firsthand insights on community involvement, ownership, and what inclusive mining looks like in practice.

This moment reflects what MCC stands for: ensuring communities are not just beneficiaries, but active participants with a voice at the table.

We’re ready, engaged, and looking forward to meaningful conversations throughout the week.

As the Mining Indaba 2026 approaches, Marula Community Chrome (MCC) continues to challenge how mining engages with host communities. Speaking on SAfmRadio The Morning Brief, Dr. Kinesh Pather highlighted how MCC is embedded directly into the ownership structure of Makgomo Chrome, ensuring communities are not just beneficiaries of downstream CSI, but active economic participants in mining operations.

Through MCC, local communities hold a real stake in the value created by their land, driving shared prosperity, accountability, and long-term development.

This is what inclusive, community-centred mining looks like and it’s the conversation we’re proud to take forward when Mining Indaba takes place next week in Cape Town.

[ON AIR] As Africa Mining Indaba approaches, one chrome producer is challenging the industry’s default approach to community engagement. Makgomo Chrome has embedded community ownership directly into its corporate structure through Marula Community Chrome — a beneficiary vehicle that gives local communities a real economic stake in mining operations, not just downstream CSR benefits. Ahead of the Mining Indaba 2026, taking place in Cape Town on 9-12 February, Marula Community Chrome (MCC) is proudly contributing to the national conversation on the future of mining. Our Chairperson Dr. Kinesh Pather, in conversation with Heidi Giokos on eNCAnews, discussed the importance of community involvement and ownership in mining, and how meaningful participation can translate into real, lasting benefits for host communities.

MCC believes that mining must go beyond extraction to create shared value, empower local communities, and support sustainable development.

We look forward to engaging industry leaders, policymakers, and partners at the Africa Mining Indaba as we continue to advocate for inclusive, community-centred mining models that work for everyone.

Lighting up lives, one home and one school at a time. The Marula Community Chrome (MCC)’s solar initiative, has brought reliable, clean energy to our six host communities. Thousands of homes and over 30 schools now have access to solar power helping families cook safely, children study after dark, and learning without interruption.

And through our apprenticeship training, young people are learning the skills to maintain and expand this progress. Every panel installed and every light switched on represents hope, dignity, and progress.

Together, we’re building brighter communities today and for generations to come.

Thank you to everyone who continues to support MCC’s mission of empowerment and sustainability.
