🚧 Project Progress Update | Setsoto Local Municipality Wastewater Treatment Works Refurbishment 💧

Progress continues on the refurbishment of the Setsoto Local Municipality Wastewater Treatment Works, a project aimed at restoring and upgrading critical wastewater infrastructure to better serve the community.

The refurbishment addresses the challenges posed by aging and vandalized infrastructure, with the goal of improving the quality of treated effluent to meet prescribed standards, increasing the plant's capacity to accommodate current loading, and ensuring the long-term protection of vital installations and equipment.

Proper Consulting Engineers is proud to provide the full professional engineering service for this project, including planning, design, documentation and procurement, contract administration, construction monitoring, and project close-out.

A well-deserved achievement — congratulations to Oudtshoorn Municipality! 👏

Proper Consulting Engineers is incredibly proud to have supported the Oudtshoorn Municipality in securing a Top 10 position in the Western Cape for the 2026 Green Drop audits.

In the face of a demanding three-week turnaround and significant challenges, the Municipality demonstrated true commitment and resilience — improving their score from 43% to an outstanding 69%. This milestone reflects the dedication to delivering better water quality and sanitation services to their community.

A special mention goes to our Head Scientist, Corinne de Kok, and her remarkable team, whose expertise and hard work were instrumental in supporting this achievement. They are the true heroes behind the scenes.

While this success is worth celebrating, it is only the beginning. With more time and improved external factors, we are confident that Oudtshoorn Municipality will reach even greater heights in the coming year.

At Proper Consulting Engineers, we recently hosted our annual half-year conference, and what a successful and engaging morning it was.

The session was filled with proactive discussions, valuable insights, and a great deal of energy from the team.

Corinne de K**k, our water quality management expert, delivered an exceptionally informative presentation on water quality. She even brought along water samples for us to test ourselves — sparking lively debate, curiosity, and plenty of laughter.

Ruan Potgieter also gave us an exciting look at the capabilities of our new state-of-the-art survey equipment, showcasing how innovation and technology continue to enhance the precision and efficiency of our work.

We’re proud to share progress from our team currently hard at work in Ficksburg on important water treatment upgrades 💧

As part of the project, we’re not only improving the water treatment works, but also upgrading and repairing the gravel access road leading to the plant. Reliable access is essential to ensure smooth operations, long-term maintenance, and uninterrupted service delivery to the community.

The road upgrade is still a work in progress, but great strides are being made — and we’re excited about the positive impact this will have once completed.
