What does a sustainable school look like?

One of our latest projects is a new primary school for the Mpumalanga Department of Education, Rockdale, now nearing completion.

Designed by Cocoon Network, the development includes 24 classrooms, a library, computer centre, administration block, sports facilities and supporting infrastructure that will serve the local community for years to come.

What makes this project particularly interesting is Cocoon Network's eco-design approach. The strategy combines sustainable water and energy solutions with durable, low-maintenance building materials, including REHAU uPVC window and door systems.

For schools, sustainability is about more than reducing environmental impact. It's about creating buildings that are resilient, efficient to operate and built to perform over the long term.

A productive day in George.

We had good conversations at the CPD Authority event around something that directly impacts homeowners: how windows and doors affect comfort, energy use, and long-term durability.

Smith and Wise engaged with architects on making more performance-led choices helping homeowners move beyond default options like hollow aluminium and toward solutions that perform better over time.

Exciting progress in the Cape Winelands

After around 9 months of construction, the Bergenhof Village development in Paarl is nearing completion.

This multi-phase residential project by Habikon Housing includes:

• 108 apartments
• 101 houses
• Two precincts centred around community and education

Across the development, REHAU uPVC window and door systems were installed, fabricated and fitted by Trinity Aluminium & uPVC.

Projects like this show how uPVC is becoming an increasingly trusted choice for modern residential developments in South Africa, offering durability, comfort and clean architectural finishes.

With the final phase now in sight, it's exciting to see this community taking shape in the Cape Winelands.
