Good day,
It has come to our attention that there is a post making rounds on Facebook about Scaw Metals being unprofessional about their learners and we would like to respond as follows.
A Learnership programme is structured in a way that students will be involved with theory work as well as practical work. In this particular learnership in question, the learners are currently busy with the practical side of a learnership and once completed will return college for the next semester. It is important to note that learners are always kept informed with the progression of the learnership and that they can be placed in any company for them to gain the practical exposure that they need to complete their learnership. This was explained to the learners. It is common practice to allow learners to obtain their on the job exposure where they can obtain the best exposure and experience and this may not always be at Scaw, just like Scaw hosts learners from other companies and TVET colleges to assist them to obtain the experience they need to get their qualification.
