HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY

Women play a critical role in global food systems yet remain among the most vulnerable to the climate and economic shocks.
According to the Food and Agriculture Organization, women make up nearly half of the agricultural labour force in developing countries,
but face disproportionate barriers to resources, land ownership, and climate adaptation support. In rural communities, this gap is even more pronounced.

At Foskor, our role in enabling agricultural productivity is directly linked to strengthening food security. But it also contributes to something deeper:
supporting the resilience of women who are often the backbone of household food systems.
As climate volatility continues to reshape agriculture, inclusive approaches are no longer optional. They are essential.
This includes recognising the role of women, particularly Mothers, in sustaining communities and ensuring long-term food security.
This Mother’s Day, we reflect on the intersection between agriculture, mining, resilience, and the women who hold them together.

This Workers’ Day, we recognise the people whose work keeps the country moving, often far beyond what is visible.

At Foskor, it is our employees who carry the responsibility of enabling food security. From our operations in Phalaborwa and Richards Bay to the communities we work alongside, their efforts help ensure that essential inputs reach farmers, soils are restored, and harvests can thrive.

But the impact does not stop there. Through enterprise and supplier development, skills transfer, and community partnerships, our Foskorites help build local economies, support small businesses, and extend opportunity where it is needed most. This is work that sustains not only industries, but livelihoods and futures.

Today, we celebrate the individuals behind this impact. Their commitment, resilience, and pride in their work continue to shape a stronger, more food-secure South Africa and a continent that can feed itself.

Employees and contractors were recognised for their positive contributions to safety. Awards were presented for:
* Best Performing Contractor
* Most Improved Department

WORLD DAY OF SAFETY AND HEALTH AT WORK

Every worker deserves to return home safe, healthy, and supported at the end of the day.
Mental health at work matters. The World Health Organisation estimates that more than 300 million people worldwide live with depression, and that issues such as anxiety and work related stress affect millions more. Poor mental health can reduce focus, lower productivity, and increase the risk of accidents on the job.

At Foskor, we know that safety is more than protective gear and risk assessments. It includes listening, caring, and lifting one another up. That is why we have strengthened our safety systems and increased support for mental wellbeing across our teams. We value the importance of our people feeling respected, supported, and able to speak up if they need help.

A healthy mind supports a safer workplace. By prioritising mental wellbeing, we can build stronger teams, safer operations, and a more resilient Foskor.

On World Earth Day, we recognise the shared responsibility we all have to protect our planet, our only home.

South Africa is one of the world’s 17 megadiverse countries, home to rich ecosystems that support communities, agriculture, and industry.
At Foskor, we are committed to doing our part through practical, measurable action:

Reducing waste to landfill through separation at source and recycling
Cutting greenhouse gas emissions through LED upgrades and energy-efficiency projects
Strengthening emissions monitoring and reporting
Driving water savings through improved water management initiatives
Reducing reliance on freshwater resources

Our ISO 14001-certified environmental management systems assist the business to manage waste, water, biodiversity, and climate impacts.
Our Power, Our Planet! Every action we take for Earth helps build healthier communities, stronger ecosystems, and a more sustainable future.

Water is life. Yet for over 2 billion people globally, safe drinking water remains out of reach. For many women and girls, this means hours spent each day collecting water instead of learning, working, or leading.

This World Water Day, we move beyond awareness to action. Because when water access improves, everything changes. Communities become more resilient, children stay in school, and women are empowered to lead and innovate.

At Foskor, water stewardship is not just a responsibility, it is a commitment to shared progress:
• Community impact: In response to the water crisis in Phalaborwa, Foskor is supplying domestic water to communities through its borehole system
• Collaboration: Partnering with uMngeni-uThukela Water and City of uMhlathuze Municipality to address water challenges in Richards Bay
• Protecting ecosystems: Continuous seepage management prevents pollution of nearby streams
• Reliable operations: Rapid response to leaks and system failures ensures continuity and accountability
• Sustainable use: Ongoing maintenance and monitoring improves long-term water efficiency
• Reuse and efficiency: Processed water is recycled within operations, reducing demand on fresh water sources
• Cleaner air: Water reuse supports dust suppression and reduces atmospheric emissions
• Responsible management: Separation of clean and dirty water safeguards water quality
• Smart measurement: Accurate water accounting strengthens long-term planning and conservation

Water is both a shared heritage and a human right. As we mark world Water day, we are reminded that water challenges are not insurmountable. They are opportunities to lead with responsibility, partnership, and innovation.

Where water flows, equality grows. Every drop saved, protected, and shared brings us closer to a more equal and sustainable future.

HUMAN RIGHTS DAY

Every worker deserves safety, respect, and opportunity. At our plants, protecting human dignity means more than policies. It also means safe workplaces, fair treatment, and skills programmes that empower employees to grow and thrive. We invest in equality, diversity, and community support because rights are strongest when they are lived out. As Foskor, we believe that health and safety is a constitutional imperative that underpins the right to dignity, life and fair labour practice

On Human Rights Day, we celebrate the people who make our business possible and reaffirm our commitment to making the Constitution real in every corner of our operations. We honour the values that guide how we engage with our employees, partners and communities every day.

At Foskor, we see opportunity where others see waste. In South Africa, recycling rates are improving — plastics recycling alone has risen to over 28%, showing that materials once discarded can be recovered, reused, and reimagined.

In our mining operations, we are turning this principle into action. By recycling mining waste-products, recycling water through a closed system (Zero Discharge) and water reuse, we reduce environmental impact, recover valuable resources, and support circular economy that benefits communities and industries alike.
We invite everyone to rethink waste: when we give materials a second life, we gain healthier communities, stronger food security, and a greener planet.

We are proud to share a milestone initiative led by the Foskor CSI Acid Division in partnership with the Zululand Chamber of Business Foundation (ZCBF).

Thirty young people from the traditional communities of Kwa Dube, Kwa Madlebe, Mambuka Mandlazini and Kwa-Mkhwanazi recently completed skills development training in sewing, baking, and poultry farming. These training areas were identified by the communities as key opportunities for local economic participation.

During the handover ceremony, the graduates received certificates and tools of trade to help them begin their entrepreneurial journeys. Beneficiaries were provided with sewing machines, cake mixers, and poultry starter packs that included day-old broilers, chicken feed and feeding equipment.

This programme forms part of Foskor’s ongoing commitment to community development by equipping youth with practical skills that improve employability while also supporting the growth of sustainable small businesses. Participants will also benefit from business management training to strengthen their ability to start and manage their own enterprises.

We extend our appreciation to all partners and stakeholders who contributed to making this initiative possible, including traditional authorities, and collaborating institutions.
