Did you know: Earth Leakage Protection is a legal requirement on all new electrical installations. This has been a requirement since September 1974 which is the date earth leakage Protection became mandatory in South Africa. For installations pre September 1974 earth leakage is recommended. If the pre 74 installation changes then earth leakage is mandatory on all standard socket outlets. Earth leakage became mandatory also on geyser circuits.from July 2020. It is strongly recommended the test trip button should be operated at least once a month. If the unit fails to trip it is necessary that it is replaced for safety reasons. It is advisable to test the unit frequently with the prescribed instrument.
