Medium-Chain Triglycerides MCT is a remarkable natural product that seriously benefits human and animal health in many ways.
Medium-chain triglycerides (MCT's) are fatty acid esters of glycerol with distinct chemical and physical properties that differentiate them from the more common Long-Chain Triglycerides (LCTs).
The Chemical Structure & Composition is the Glycerol Backbone: MCT's consist of a Glycerol molecule attached to three fatty acid chains. The Chain Length of the fatty acids in MCT's have an Aliphatic tail of 6 to 12 Carbon atoms and these represent the following key fatty acid chains;
Caproic acid (C6): Hexanoic acid.
Caprylic acid (C8): Octanoic acid.
Capric acid (C10): Decanoic acid.
Lauric acid (C12): Dodecanoic acid. (Some experts exclude C12 due to its metabolic similarity to LCTs).
Most MCT fatty acids are fully saturated, meaning they lack double bonds between the Carbon atoms.
Our MCT products both Oil and Powder variants comprise of a combination of C8-Caprylic Acid and C10-Capric Acid with minute traces of the other fatty acids OR 98% C8-Caprylic Acid. Our powder variants are spray dried with either Acacia or Tapioca Fiber.
