Day 2 | Keep A Girl Child in School 2026

Today marks the successful conclusion of ROMPCO’s Keep A Girl Child in School Programme in the Ehlanzeni District, Mpumalanga.

The programme continued in the Mjindi Circuit, where learners from Chief Funwako Secondary School, Emjindini Secondary School, KaMhola Comprehensive School and Ngwane Secondary School received dignity packs and essential personal-care products to support their educational journey.

With Collaboration being one of ROMPCO’s core values, this initiative highlights what can be achieved when businesses, government, schools and communities work together to create lasting impact. Through the programme, ROMPCO supported 8,479 vulnerable learners across 10 schools by distributing 4,475 dignity packs to girls and 4,004 hygiene packs to boys, helping remove barriers to education and enabling learners to pursue their aspirations with confidence.

ROMPCO extends its appreciation to the Mpumalanga Department of Education, Sasol, school leadership, traditional leaders and community stakeholders whose partnership made this programme possible.

Together, we are advancing dignity, strengthening education outcomes and empowering the next generation to realise its full potential.

Day 1 | Keep A Girl Child in School 2026

Today, ROMPCO officially launched the 2026 Keep A Girl Child in School Programme in the Ehlanzeni District, Mpumalanga, reaffirming our commitment to supporting vulnerable learners in communities surrounding our operations. The initiative is aimed at reducing barriers to education by providing dignity packs and essential personal-care products to learners, helping to create a more inclusive and supportive learning environment.

Day 1 of the programme commenced at Kaapmuiden Combined School, bringing together educators, learners, community leaders, government stakeholders and partners to advance a shared goal of ensuring that every learner has the opportunity to attend school with dignity and confidence.

Through this initiative, ROMPCO continues to invest in the well-being, education and empowerment of young people, recognising that access to essential sanitary and personal-care products plays a vital role in school attendance, participation and academic success.

We are proud to partner with the Mpumalanga Department of Education and Sasol in driving meaningful impact and supporting learners on their educational journey.

For the third consecutive year, ROMPCO proudly partnered with SASOL in supporting the world-renowned Comrades Marathon – the Ultimate Human Race.

Through our Water Point Station, we had the privilege of encouraging and supporting thousands of runners as they pushed through one of the most demanding and inspiring races in the world. This partnership reflects our continued commitment to promoting healthy lifestyles, community well-being, and meaningful social impact.

Congratulations to every runner who crossed the finish line. Your resilience, determination, and unwavering spirit embody the true essence of the Comrades Marathon.

ROMPCO is proud to hand over newly constructed classrooms, a modern administration building, a library, and a soccer field, together with the renovation of existing facilities, today 09 June 2026, at Armando Emilio Guebuza Secondary School. Located along the gas pipeline route, the school serves as an important educational hub for the local community.

This initiative forms part of ROMPCO’s ongoing commitment to supporting the sustainable development of communities through which its pipeline traverses.
The upgraded infrastructure is designed to provide learners and educators with a safe, modern, and conducive environment for teaching, learning, and recreation. The new classrooms will help ease overcrowding and improve learning conditions, while the administration building will strengthen the school’s operational capacity. The newly established library will enhance access to educational resources and promote a culture of reading and academic excellence. In addition, the soccer field will provide opportunities for sport, physical development, and community engagement, contributing to learners' holistic growth.

This investment reflects ROMPCO’s belief that education is a powerful catalyst for social and economic development.

The official handover ceremony was presided over by Her Excellency Margarida Sebastião Mapandzene Chongo, Governor of Gaza Province. The event was attended by ROMPCO’s Executive Management team, led by Chief Executive Officer Mlandzeni Boyce, accompanied by Chief Operations Officer Amilton Alisonne, General Manager: Corporate Services Mbulelo Ntusi, Technical Manager Luis Gudo, and Paulo Maputere -Area Manager for Mozambique. Their presence underscored the significance of this milestone for the learners, educators, and residents of Ndindiza Village in the Chigubo District of Gaza Province, Mozambique.

The handover marks a significant milestone in ROMPCO’s partnership with local communities and reinforces the company’s dedication to creating shared value beyond the transportation of natural gas. Through strategic investments in education and community infrastructure, ROMPCO continues to play a meaningful role in building stronger, more resilient, and prosperous communities along its pipeline corridor.

ROMPCO extends its sincere gratitude to its strategic partners, Sasol and Companhia Moçambicana do Gasoduto (CMG), for their invaluable support and oversight throughout the implementation of this project. Their commitment, expertise, and collaborative approach were instrumental in ensuring the successful completion of the development. Africa Day reminds us that our greatest strength lies in our diversity. Across this continent, hundreds of cultures, languages, traditions, and perspectives come together to inspire innovation, resilience, and progress.

On Friday, 22 May, the ROMPCO workforce visited Lesedi Cultural Village, just outside Johannesburg, to celebrate Africa Day by learning more about the diverse African cultures represented in South Africa.

The day proved to be a valuable knowledge-sharing experience, reminding us of our roots and shared identity as Africans. Activities included traditional dance, storytelling, and African drumming.

At ROMPCO, collaboration is more than simply working together - it is about valuing every voice, respecting every background, and creating an environment where people feel seen, heard, and empowered to contribute.
