A rotary milking system is a circular, moving platform where cows stand while being milked.

The platform rotates slowly, and workers attach the milking machines as the cows move around. By the time the cow completes one full circle, she is finished milking and steps off the platform.

It is mainly used on large dairy farms because it allows many cows to be milked quickly and efficiently with less labour. 🐄

🐄 Some inside advice from our very own Calf Manager!

Raising healthy calves starts from the very first hour of life. The small details make the biggest difference — clean pens, warm bedding, and most importantly… colostrum as soon as possible!

A strong calf today becomes a productive cow tomorrow.
Good calf care isn’t just routine — it’s the foundation of the entire dairy.

Because on a dairy farm…
It all starts with the calf.

🌿Wondering what are they doing here ? 🌿

After a calf is born, the following process takes place:

Once the calf is completely dry, the cow and calf are separated. The calf is then moved to the ICU unit, while the cow is taken from the calving pen to the working pen, where her colostrum is milked for her calf. It is extremely important that the calf receives colostrum as soon as possible after birth, as it provides essential nutrients and immunity.

The cow then goes through her post-calving checks, where her temperature, condition, and overall wellbeing are monitored. After this, she is moved to the fresh cow house, where she begins her new lactation cycle.

Everything in dairy farming starts with the calf. A healthy calf grows into a strong cow, and a strong cow produces quality milk. Without calves, there are no cows, no milk, and no income. That is why proper care, nutrition, and management from the very beginning are so important. When we invest in our calves today, we secure the future of our farm tomorrow. 💚🐄

Keep an eye on our page this week where we will be sharing some of our knowledge in calf rearing !
