When breaking new ground it has most certainly become more cost effective to install an off grid solar system with cleverly considered loads than to get grid to site.

This is a powerful Sungrow 10kW inverter, 15kWh Subgrow battery capacity and 13kWp AIKO Energy modules.

An incredible project to be a part of, grateful for the opportunity.

A few before, during and after photos. This system consists of the following:

150kW x Sigenergy inverter capacity
264 x 650W AIKO Energy solar modules
18 x 9.04kWh Sigenergy batteries
1 x Sigenergy C300 Gateway

Some of the panels were installed on the available roof spaces, 1 x 64 panel and a 49 x panel steel structure built on the open roof spaces and a 68 x cantilever parking structure. The structures were designed, supplied and installed by Greenlink Concepts.

The 2025 Energy Market Projections report by Cresco and Standard Bank forecasts a very dark future for Eskom. The report highlighted that by 2030, as much as 4GW of Eskom’s coal generation may be offline due to unforeseen breakdowns or the scheduled decommissioning of coal power stations. By 2040, coal usage is projected to decline to 25%, with only five plants expected to still be operational.
The report highlighted the urgent need for South Africa to expedite new energy initiatives, particularly in the areas of renewables, gas, and battery storage.
