Broadleaf Energy Solutions focuses energy control. Our focus is to understand your power requirements before implementing an processes. This is done with cloud based power monitoring. We are able to track your changes in consumption in real time to show what your base line consumption is. From this we are able to make informed decisions about what technology would suit your requirements. Armed with this information we can show you what your expected return on investment would be purely based off power savings. For domestic clients, we offer a range of services.

Project spotlight: Atlantic Black, completed 2020.

A 50.8 kW solar PV installation paired with a diesel hybrid setup, built on SolarEdge inverters and Canadian Solar modules.

Agricultural operations run on tight margins and can't afford downtime, so the hybrid configuration matters as much as the array itself. Solar carries the daytime load, the generator covers the gaps, and the two are managed together rather than fighting each other. Less diesel burned, lower running costs, and continuity when the grid isn't cooperating.

Five years on, it's still doing exactly that.

Every rand a school spends on electricity is a rand it doesn't spend on teaching.

Cape Town learned this the hard way in 2018, and municipal tariffs have only gone up since.

Rainwater harvesting and greywater reuse take pressure off two things at once: the municipal supply your site depends on, and the water line on your monthly bill. Roof catchment, filtration, storage, and reuse for irrigation, ablutions or process water. The infrastructure pays for itself and then keeps paying.

It also means the next restriction cycle is an inconvenience rather than a shutdown.

Not all electricity costs the same.

Under time-of-use tariffs, the same kilowatt-hour can cost several times more at 18:00 than it does at 11:00. Most businesses just absorb that. A battery energy storage system gives you the choice not to.

Charge when power is cheap or when your solar is producing. Discharge when the grid is at its most expensive. Your consumption doesn't change, but your bill does, and your maximum demand charge comes down with it.

The savings compound every month, and they get better every time tariffs rise.
