We just received an awesome letter from EcoPools Europe Andy Jones. It was so introspective, we simply had to share it with the greater Green Consciousness:
"Answering Gaia’s call
I believe any virus infection is a symptom of our bodies out of balance due to our lifestyles and/or a sick environment. Is it possible viruses have evolved with us (like bacteria) and are a necessary part of us to help us evolve and keep the gene pool healthy? (possibly even to raise our human consciousness). It is not in a viruses interest to kill its host. The vast majority of those who do die having been ‘exposed’ to a virus are already massively compromised having been exposed to a hostile environment of our own making. In this Covid 19 crisis we are focused on attempting to isolate and treat sick 'fish' from an 'invading' virus instead of asking why we haven’t been testing and treating the 'water' for its impurities (Emf, diet, chemical pollutants etc,).
This is a time of mass world reflection as a mirror is held up to our relationship to living with death as well as our relationship to living with life. Once the mainstream media and government induced hysteria has died down a myriad of issues will be highlighted.
The philosophy behind the EcoPools ethos can go some way to addressing some of these issues; we need to be more healthy and strengthen our immune system so as to not overload our underfunded health services in the future. There is increasing evidence that suggests swimming and exposing ourselves to cold water is hugely beneficial. I know of someone who has been in one of my pools in UK on a regular basis for the last 4 years who suffered from asthma and low immunity from infection. She has no symptoms now after just a few months of regular dipping and enjoys much higher energy levels. The benefits of the Wim Hof cold water therapy methods are well documented. I know this is more relevant in Europe but we know that any immersion in healthy natural water will be improving your well-being and therefore your immunity.
Just to be immersed in natural beauty has a big impact on our well-being. Creating beautiful landscapes matters more now than ever. People in UK seeking a dose of nature are being discouraged from visiting national parks (and escaping on a plane is not an option) so are confined to an indoor existence, realising how much they have taken nature for granted. Rather than defaulting to jumping in cars and planes for our restorative breaks away why not invest in making your garden/neighbourhood your daily 'holiday' destination in the future. The garden can also be a place for immunity boosting exercise, yoga, tai chi, meditation etc. A well designed garden could include vegetable and fruit beds to offer health enriching organic produce.
The present crisis will almost certainly lead to increased levels of depression (which is a growing issue in society already). Rather than avoiding ‘germs’, getting your hands dirty can be the healthiest thing you can do. Soil microbes have been found to have similar effects on the brain to Prozac and are without side effects and chemical dependency potential. The bacterium Mycobacterium vaccae that is found in soil stimulates serotonin production, which makes you relaxed and happier. Studies were conducted on cancer patients and they reported a better quality of life and less stress. Lack of serotonin has been linked to depression, anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorder and bipolar problems. Mycobacterium antidepressant microbes in soil are also being investigated for improving cognitive function, Crohn’s disease and even rheumatoid arthritis.
EcoPools offer many design solutions that can heal and respect water, and consequently ourselves. For example, restoring dirty water with natural ‘waste’ water systems has knock on effects to benefit nature and strengthen our understanding and relationship with it. Rather than the wasteful use of water in our households water should be seen as a resource for recycling and can be reused for flushing toilets or for watering our gardens in times of drought. By returning water to the environment in a healthy state we can protect our fragile ecosystems for future generations.
It is my hope that people affected by these challenging times, many who have been confined to their houses and flats in their artificial worlds, will now wake up fully to the restorative benefits of the natural world that can lie just outside their doors. It is time for a deeper connection to each other and nature, and not to accept further separation and degradation by attempting to control nature and each other with misplaced technologies and mindsets. Never has it been more important to listen again to the ancient wisdom of Gaia.
