MESSAGE FROM VEDANTA GROUP CEO MR. SUNIL DUGGAL

My Dear Family Members,

I would first like to wish you a peaceful Christmas season and greetings for a Happy New Year to all KCM family members, business partners, vendors, and to the entire community, and best wishes to the newly elected government.

Last year was tough for all of us due to Covid-19 and I hope and pray that your loved ones and families are kept safe as we continue
to navigate the pandemic.

Zambia is a democratic nation which has the tremendous potential of growth opportunities. The Copperbelt community has supported whole heartedly the New Dawn government to bring change in the mining sector. The government is taking the right measures to revive the economy and create robust policies to benefit the economy and the people in the long term.

In the last 2 years it is distressing to note that KCM which was the glory of the Copperbelt has been severely compromised, that has
impacted productivity and the asset is on the verge of collapse and in urgent need of attention. It is extremely important to rebuild
KCM which requires approx. K25 billion investment to make it a world class asset once again for the people of Zambia.

As the majority shareholder of KCM, it is our promise that together we can restore KCM, increase productivity and ensure we work
towards creating jobs and business opportunities for the local population. This will need new investments, which we have
earmarked to include bringing in new technologies, digitalization of processes, stringent environmental and safety processes, and
make it a company which will contribute significantly towards the growth of the Zambian economy.

In the past, we have invested over K51 billion to build a state of art smelter which had zero discharge of Sulphur and impurities. Also, invested in building the largest shaft, first of its kind in Africa. We engaged local vendors so that they can develop their business
as well.

Previously, through our youth exchange program, Zambian youths were given the opportunity to receive scholarships to study in
India, opportunity to get on the job training in our facilities, which have best in class processes and better their career prospects in
Zambia.

As a gesture of solidarity, we contributed K100 million to the community towards a settlement which has enabled the community
to create better infrastructure. We supported an anti -malaria activity to make it a malaria free community. In recent times, we have again embarked on a similar anti-malaria spraying program in surrounding areas with the support of the local community and
stakeholders, and also taken measures to create awareness on the fast-spreading Covid variant and the need to wear masks.

We aim to recruit local young students as part of our global internship program from local universities as they are the future of the country, especially with a focus on developing women leaders as well.

The CSR programs will be revived to better the living conditions, hospitals will be well equipped, sports infrastructure for the youth,
and we will participate and collaborate with the government programs to promote agriculture.

I extend my personal assurance and commitment to work alongside you all, to ensure we recreate the asset, with the best of
environment and safety standards which we are now proud of implementing in all our assets. I shall be leading the energy security
initiative and ensure we look at renewable energy to supplement the hydro power that is used currently in KCM.

Together we can look forward to new beginning in the New Year. My prayer to the Almighty is to give each of us the strength and
dedication to make KCM the pride of the community, and the people of Zambia.

We see a brighter future for KCM and confident with your valuable support, contribution, and commitment to KCM we can bring
back prosperity to the Copperbelt and the country.

Warm Regards,
Sunil Duggal
Group CEO & Chief Safety Officer, Vedanta

WE HAVE A POWER SUPPLY AGREEMENT WITH ZESCO, KCM TELLS CEC

KONKOLA COPPER MINES STATEMENT ON CEC THREATS TO RESTRICT POWER
31 May 2020, CHINGOLA:

Konkola Copper Mines (KCM) acknowledges having seen a media statement, dated 29 May 2020, issued by the Copperbelt Energy Corporation (CEC) in which it indicates that it intends to switch off power supply to KCM with effect from 1st June 2020.

Konkola Copper Mines informs that the 20-year Power Supply Agreement (PSA) between CEC and KCM expired on 31st March 2020, and was extended by mutual agreement to 31st May 2020.

KCM has entered into a binding Term Sheet Agreement for a new PSA between ZESCO Ltd and KCM, effective 1st June 2020.

ZESCO Ltd is expected to conclude a Wheeling Agreement soonest with CEC to transmit power from ZESCO Ltd, via CEC infrastructure, to KCM operations.

KCM has also become aware that the Minister of Energy issued a Statutory Instrument (SI) on 29th May 2020, in terms of Section 15 of the Electricity Act, No 11 of 2019, declaring CEC as a common career of power from ZESCO to KCM using CEC infrastructure in the absence of a signed Wheeling Agreement between CEC and ZESCO Ltd.

This will enable Zesco to transmit
power to KCM using CEC infrastructure, pending the Wheeling Agreement between CEC and
ZESCO.

We expect a seamless transition in the supply of power from CEC to ZESCO and any
interference or restriction will be an act of sabotage.

Konkola Copper Mines cannot comment any further on any other issues pertaining to this
matter as there is a pending case at the Kitwe High Court to which the Court is yet to pronounce itself on the said matters. In as far as these matters are concerned, KCM reserves its rights and will seek redress at an appropriate time and forum.

High Court throws out Vedanta’s application to refer KCM case to arbitration in South Africa

A-48-YEAR-OLD miner has been crashed to death by an electrical locomotive at Konkola Shaft Number One underground mine in Chililabombwe.
Both Copperbelt Police Chief Charity Katanga and Mineworkers Union of Zambia (MUZ) General Secretary George Mumba have confirmed the death of James Katai of house number 969 Buchi in Kitwe.
Mr Mumba said Mr Katai who was Personal-In-Charge for Master Mining Services under JCHX died in the early hours of 20/03/18 around 04:00 hours.
He said Katai was working as a locomotive whistle man.
And Ms Katanga said the cause of the accident had not yet been established but Mr Katai died whilst working on level 3,150 feet in section 1,075.
But preliminary investigations indicate that there was a miscommunication between the locomotive driver and the whistle man.
“He sustained head injuries thereby bleeding from both the nose and the mouth. Other details will come later but the body is in Konkola Mine Hospital,” she said.

Vumani bo!!

The Copperbelt Energy Corporation (CEC) has started restricting electricity supply to at least two Konkola Copper Mines (KCM) transformers in Chingola, leaving only the Nchanga transformer which is also expected to be switched off once the copper processing smelter has been safely shut down.
And CEC sources say KCM had been given enough notice, and that technical teams from both sides had worked together in deciding which parts of the mine to restrict energy.
News Diggers learnt yesterday that KCM was owing CEC in excess of US$40 million in unpaid electricity bills and had failed to settle the debt despite several demands.
“The agreement that is there is that in situations where KCM defaults on payments for the electricity supply, CEC can give a notice of 14 days, which CEC did in March because KCM has been defaulting for a while. After that notice, KCM had agreed to be settling the outstanding bill in monthly instalments but they failed to do so for about three months,” CEC sources narrated.
