In the first picture above to the left is Engineer BERNARD Chiwala handing over a seedling of chestnut 🌰 to His Excellency the Zambian Ambassador to Malawi LT Colonel Hon Panji Kaunda when he visited Moriah Gardens on Valentine’s Day the 14th February 2023.
Hon Ambassador Kaunda and Engineer Chiwala have one thing in Common -they are both fruit tree and tee crop farmers with a special focus on avocados🥑.
The duo during their reunion discussed a number of issues concerning the promotion of the commercial cultivation of avocados 🥑 in Zambia; the sourcing of biodegradable grafting tapes, the promotion of organic fertilizers for avocados and the local production of grow bags were also discussed.
Engineer Chiwala was challenged and inspired to learn that during the 2022/2023 planting season Hon Ambassador Panji Kaunda had planted 5,000 rootstocks of Mangos 🥭.
On the avocado 🥑 front the total grafted Hass avocados 🥑that Hon Ambassador Kaunda has already planted in the ground stands at 550. Another 450 grafted plants are in the nursery and will be planted within 2 months time.
What is remarkable about Hon Ambassador Panji Kaunda is that he is a skilled fruit tree grafter.
The second picture above is a flashback of Hon Ambassador Panji Kaunda’s visit to
Moriah Gardens on 6/05/2021.
