DAILY IMPACT: The Spirit of the LORD is Upon Me
When Jesus stepped in His role, service, calling, and ministry purposed by the Heavenly Father, He went to the synagogue, as was His custom, where He was handed the scroll of the prophet Isaiah. Guided by inspiration, He turned the scroll to where Isaiah had prophetically written these words:
The Spirit of the LORD God is upon me (Isaiah 61:1).
I recall as a teenager, a time when God’s call upon my life rang loudly within my being. I would frequently close myself in my bedroom where I was met with the presence of the LORD in ways I have never been able to share or explain. It was in these moments that I would pick up a guitar with tears streaming down my face and would sing the words of Isaiah’s prophecy; “The Spirit of the LORD is upon me.”
Little did I know at the time that the journey ahead would be rugged and ladened with much pain, warfare, obstacles, and rejection. Also, little did I know when I sang those prophetic words that the coming years of my life would be fruitless, meaningless, and unsuccessful without the Spirit of the LORD resting upon me.
This testimony is not only applicable to Jesus, but also applies to your and my life. Many never step out into their God ordained callings because they either fail or refuse to allow the Spirit of the LORD to rest upon them. For His Spirit, fire, breath, inspiration, and anointing to rest upon you, your life must become a living altar and sacrifice unto God.
The Spirit of the LORD God is upon me, because the LORD has anointed me to… (Isaiah 61:1)
What has the LORD called and anointed you to do? His call, anointing, and power will reside within and upon you as you present yourself to Him as a “living sacrifice.” (Romans 12:1)
