Normet is seeking a qualified and proactive Safety Officer to implement site health and safety systems, monitor compliance, manage workplace risks, and promote a strong Zero Harm culture across underground and surface operations.
Key Responsibilities
✅ Implement and maintain site-specific health and safety management systems
✅ Conduct workplace inspections in underground and surface work areas
✅ Facilitate risk assessments, JHAs, and Take-5 assessments
✅ Identify hazards and monitor the effectiveness of control measures
✅ Investigate incidents, accidents, near misses, and dangerous occurrences
✅ Recommend corrective and preventive actions and track their closure
✅ Conduct safety inductions, toolbox talks, meetings, and awareness programmes
✅ Maintain safety records, registers, permits, and compliance documentation
✅ Support emergency response planning, drills, and equipment inspections
✅ Monitor contractor and visitor compliance with site safety requirements
✅ Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly HSE reports
✅ Participate in internal, client, and regulatory audits

Key Requirements
✔ Relevant qualification in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Health, or a related field
✔ Experience in mining, underground operations, construction, or industrial safety
✔ Knowledge of mining regulations, HSE systems, and safe work procedures
✔ Experience conducting inspections, audits, risk assessments, and incident investigations
✔ Strong knowledge of emergency preparedness and contractor safety management
✔ Excellent commun
