Incredible achievement for UAE's gifted students who achieved the Second Prize internationally and secured the Silver Medal at the 44th Beijing International Youth Science Creation Competition!
Finally, their journey of restless nights and extensive efforts has been crowned with success as they outperformed thousands of teams from across the globe. The UAE’s distinguished students captivated the judges with their creative and innovative projects:
An AI-powered UAV system for rapid victim detection in natural disasters
A smart irrigation and filtration system for sustainable precision agriculture
An AI-driven waste sorting bin for effective waste management
This great achievement is the result of the dedication and efforts of the students, their schools across the UAE, and the Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Center for Giftedness and Innovation, which identified and nominated this elite group of students to participate in the STEM Club, part of the School of Life program, a collaboration between Baseet and Dubai Culture and Arts Authority at Dubai Public Libraries.

حصد طلاب الإمارات المتميزين الجائزة الثانية عالميًا والميدالية الفضية في الدورة الرابعة والأربعين من مسابقة بكين العالمية للإبداع العلمي للشباب والتي أقيمت في العاصمة الصينية، بكين.
بعد جهود حثيثة بذلها الطلاب على مدار ٨ أسابيع، استطاع الطلاب التفوق على آلاف الفرق المشاركة من جميع أنحاء العالم، واستطاعوا إبهار لجنة التحكيم بمشاريع علمية مبتكرة قدمت حلولًا ذكية ومستدامة لتحديات عالمية مثل:
- روبوت يعمل بالذكاء الاصطناعي للكشف عن ضحايا الكوارث الطبيعية
- حاويات فصل وفرز النفايات باستخدام الذكاء الاصطناعي
- نظام ري وترشيح ذكي لدعم الزراعة المستدامة
جاء هذا الانجاز المبهر مكللًا لجهود الطلبة الموهوبين، ومدارسهم في كافة أنحاء دولة الإمارات ومركز حمدان بن راشد آل مكتوم للموهبة والابتكار الذين قاموا باكتشاف وترشيح هذه النخبة من الطلاب الموهوبين للمشاركة في نادي العلوم والابتكار STEM Club أحد برامج مدارس الحياة، الذي استضافته مكتبات دبي العامة بالتعاون مع شركة بسيط وهيئة دبي للثقافة والفنون.

أعظم الابتكارات بدأت بفضول صغير!
قدم مهرجان العلوم تجربة تفاعلية شيقة لطلاب وطالبات المدارس لاكتشاف أسرار الكهرباء، أحد أعظم اكتشافات الثورة الصناعية! ومن خلال أنشطة ممتعة وتجارب عملية، تعرفوا على مكونات الدائرة الكهربائية وكيفية تدفق الكهرباء عبر الأسلاك، وفي أجسامهم، وحتى في الهواء!
يُقام مهرجان العلوم تحت رعاية وزارة التربية والتعليم والتعليم الفني، ومؤسسة الألفي للتنمية البشرية والاجتماعية وشركة بسيط.

Egyptian public school students experienced the power of electricity—one of the greatest discoveries of the Industrial Revolution—at the Science Festival! Through hands-on activities, they explored electric circuits and discovered how electricity flows through wires, the human body, and even the air, bringing science to life in an exciting and interactive way!
The Science Festival is coordinated and implemented by the Ministry of Education and Technical Education, Al Alfi Foundation for Human and Social Development, and Baseet.

Over 100 educators in Abu Dhabi participated in the Educator Empowerment Program to explore innovative ways to integrate AI tools and digital art; from motion graphics and digital illustration to game development, into their classrooms.

Delivered in partnership with Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK) and Baseet, the programme encouraged teachers to merge Emirati heritage and national symbols with modern creative practices, empowering students to create powerful digital designs and showcasing their creativity amongst their peers across UAE.

To ensure lasting impact, Baseet’s team of digital artists carried out school visits after the program to observe teachers’ performance and students’ outcomes, offer feedback and suggestions for improving their projects, and prepare them for a nationwide student art exhibition, providing wider opportunities for students to express their creativity and celebrate national identity through digital art.

شارك أكثر من 100 معلم ومعلمة في أبوظبي في برنامج تمكين المعلمين من مهارات الفن الرقمي وأدوات الذكاء الإصطناعي، المقدم من دائرة التعليم والمعرفة، أبوظبي (ADEK) بالتعاون مع شركة بسيط. ركز البرنامج على تزويد الكوادر التعليمية بمهارات الفن الرقمي، بما في ذلك الرسوم المتحركة (الموشن جرافيك)، والرسم الرقمي، وتطوير ألعاب الفيديو، كما سلّط الضوء على دمج عناصر الهوية الإماراتية في الفنون الرقمية في الفصول الدراسية وإلهام الطلبة لتحويل الرموز الوطنية والتراث الإماراتي إلى تصاميم رقمية مبتكرة.

كما قام فريق بسيط من الفنانين الرقمين بعمل زيارات ميدانية للمدارس، جرى خلالها رصد أداء المعلمين ونتائج الطلاب وتقديم اقتراحات لتحسين الأعمال قبل عرضها في معرض فني للطلاب على مستوى الدولة وذلك لإتاحة آفاق أوسع أمام الطلاب للإبداع والتعبير عن الهوية الوطنية من خلال الفنون الرقمية.

Wherever Baseet goes, science follows!

Baseet carries science across borders and engages thousands of students, youth, and the public with Climate Science at China’s Belt and Road International Science Popularization Week, in partnership with the Ministry of Science and Technology of the People’s Republic of China and China Science and Technology Exchange Center.
Participants enjoyed a variety of thrilling science adventures designed to spark curiosity, deepen understanding, and inspire climate action.

Baseet’s Climate Science Shows captivated audiences with exciting experiments performed by world-class science communicators, uncovering the science behind climate.

At the Time Machine Exhibition, participants explored energy transition through interactive, hands-on activities.

Additionally, the Green Leader Challenge engaged audiences in a dynamic competition to create the most sustainable city while balancing economic, environmental, and social needs, all tied to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

In partnership with Beijing Science Center and the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Baseet participated in the Global Science Education Conference 2025 in Beijing.

Our Director of Education and International Outreach, Mr. Ibrahim Farouq, delivered the opening keynote Speech titled: "Science Education in the AI Era: From Classrooms to Changemakers".

In his speech, Mr. Farouq explored how artificial intelligence is reshaping science education, empowering learners to move beyond knowledge acquisition and become active changemakers.

The conference brought together a distinguished gathering of educational leaders, policymakers, and scientists from around the globe to discuss the future of education.

وألقى أ. إبراهيم فاروق، مدير التعليم والتواصل الدولي في بسيط، الكلمة الافتتاحية للمؤتمر بعنوان: "التعليم العلمي في عصر الذكاء الاصطناعي: من الصفوف الدراسية إلى صناعة التغيير".

وتطرقت كلمته إلى كيفية إسهام الذكاء الاصطناعي في تطوير التعليم العلمي ليتمكن الطلاب من تجاوز حدود اكتساب المعرفة النظرية، والانطلاق نحو دور فعال في صناعة التغيير.

وقد ضم المؤتمر نخبة من القادة التربويين وصناع السياسات التعليمية والعلماء من مختلف أنحاء العالم لتبادل الرؤى حول مستقبل التعليم في عصر الذكاء الاصطناعي.

In collaboration with School of Life and Dubai Public Libraries, Baseet launched the Green Leader Challenge across several UAE schools, engaging hundreds of students in a new learning journey focused on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and real-world sustainable practices.

The Green Leader Challenge gathered students from schools including the American School of Creative Science, Hemaya School, and Dubai School for Secondary Education to build the most sustainable city. Participants were tasked to address global challenges and pitch innovative solutions that balance environmental, economic, and social needs.
Winning teams from each school advanced to the final round, held at Al Twar Public Library, where they competed for the title of Green Leader.
Beyond the competition, the challenge encouraged students to engage with their communities and explore dynamic learning environments by visiting Dubai Public Libraries and joining a variety of interactive clubs and educational programs.

بالتعاون مع مدارس الحياة ومكتبات دبي العامة، أطلقت شركة بسيط تحدي القائد الأخضر في عدد من المدارس الإماراتية، حيث شارك مئات الطلاب في رحلة تعليمية جديدة تهدف إلى تعزيز فهمهم بأهداف التنمية المستدامة (SDGs) وتشجيعهم على تطبيق ممارسات مستدامة في حياتهم اليومية.
خلال التحدي، تنافست مجموعات من الطلاب من عدة مدارس من بينها: المدرسة الأمريكية للابداع العلمي، مدرسة حماية للبنين، ومدرسة دبي للتعليم الثانوي بنين على بناء مدينة مستدامة متكاملة، من خلال تقديم حلول مبتكرة تراعي التوازن بين الجوانب البيئية والاقتصادية والاجتماعية.
ومع نهاية كل جولة، تأهل الفريق الفائز من كل مدرسة إلى المنافسة النهائية التي استضافتها مكتبة الطوار العامة، حيث تنافست الفرق على لقب "القائد الأخضر".
ولم تقتصر التجربة على التحدي فقط، بل ألهمت الطلاب لزيارة مكتبات دبي العامة، والتفاعل مع الأندية والبرامج الثقافية والتعليمية المختلفة التي تقدمها مما فتح أمامهم آفاقًا جديدة للتعلم والتطور.

لحظة لن تُنسى!
استطاع كل من سيف عمر، سارة المجدلاوي، محمد هشام، محمد صلاح، ومحمد يوسف أن يحصلوا على جائزة الابتكار، متأهلين لتمثيل دولة الإمارات العربية المتحدة في مسابقة بكين العالمية للإبداع العلمي للشباب، التي تُقام في مارس 2025.
ولكن كيف بدأت هذه الرحلة الملهمة؟
أثناء إقامتها في الولايات المتحدة، التحقت سارة المجدلاوي بدورة تدريبية مكثفة في البرمجة والإلكترونيات، وكانت تظن أن ما تعلمته سيظل نظريًا دون تطبيق. لكنها ما إن اقترحت فكرة لتنقية وتحلية المياه، حتى فوجئت بأن الأدوات والمعدات التي تحتاجها لتنفيذ فكرتها تتوافر فورًا، وهنا بدأت ملامح المشروع تتشكل.

انضم إليها زملاؤها سيف عمر، ومحمد هشام، ومحمد صلاح، ومحمد يوسف، ليطوروا الفكرة إلى نظام ذكي متكامل، لا يكتفي بتنقية المياه فحسب، بل يربط عملية التنقية بمنظومة زراعية ذكية تُراعي احتياجات النبات والظروف المناخية المحيطة. فقاموا ببناء نظام يُحلل التربة والمياه ودرجة الحرارة، ليُحدد ما يحتاجه كل نبات بدقة، ويقوم بتوزيع المياه، وضبط درجات الحرارة تلقائيًا في الوقت المناسب، بما يضمن نموًا صحيًا ومستدامًا للنباتات.
ولم يقفوا عند هذا الحد، بل طوّروا واجهة رقمية تُتيح لصاحب المزرعة أو الحديقة متابعة نباتاته عن بُعد من خلال الهاتف أو الحاسوب، مما يجعل الزراعة المنزلية أكثر سهولة وتحفيزًا للجميع.

جاء هذا الإنجاز الرائع ثمرة عمل شاق لمدة ثمانية أسابيع، ضمن نادي العلوم والابتكار STEM Club، أحد مسارات تأثير "مدارس الحياة"، والذي استضافته مكتبات دبي العامة، بالشراكة مع شركة بسيط وهيئة دبي للثقافة والفنون.

Seif Omar, Sarah Majdalawi, Mohammed Hisham, Mohammed Salah, and Mohammed Yousef achieved the Innovation Award and claimed third place in the STEM Club, qualifying to represent the United Arab Emirates at the Beijing International Youth Science Creation Competition, held in March 2025.
But how did this inspiring journey begin?

While residing in the United States, Sarah Majdalawi enrolled in a programming and electronics training course, believing her newfound knowledge would remain theoretical. However, as soon as she proposed an idea for water purification and desalination, she was surprised to find the necessary tools and equipment readily available to bring her vision to life. This marked the initial stages of their project.
Her classmates, Seif Omar, Mohammed Hisham, Mohammed Salah, and Mohammed Yousef, joined her, developing the idea into a comprehensive smart system. This system not only purifies water but also integrates the purification process with a smart agricultural setup that considers the plant's needs and the surrounding climatic conditions. They built a system that analyzes soil, water, and temperature to precisely determine what each plant requires, automatically distributing water at the optimal time, ensuring healthy and sustainable plant growth.
They didn't stop there. They further developed a digital interface that allows farm or garden owners to monitor their plants remotely via their phone or computer, making home gardening easier and more encouraging for everyone.

This fantastic achievement is the result of eight weeks of intensive training, learning, and experimentation as part of the STEM Club—one of the impact tracks of the "School of Life" program—hosted by Dubai Public Libraries in collaboration with Baseet and the Dubai Culture & Arts Authority.

"لماذا لا يُلقي الناس النفايات في الأماكن المخصصة لها، رغم وجود سلال مخصصة لفصلها في كل مكان؟"
كان هذا التساؤل البسيط الذي طرحه ماتيو أنجيلو بدافع فضول حقيقي، هو الشرارة الأولى لابتكار مميز بدأ يتطور داخل مكتبات دبي العامة. فهذا السلوك العشوائي في التخلص من النفايات لا يمثل فقط عقبة أمام عملية إعادة التدوير، بل يسهم أيضًا في تلويث البيئة.
حينها تساءلت علياء سيف وهيام خلفان: "لم لا نصمم سلة مهملات تفصل النفايات تلقائيًا؟"
وانطلق آرآف أجراوال في إجراء بحث موسع للتأكد مما إذا كانت هناك سلال ذكية بالفعل في السوق، ودرس نقاط الضعف في النماذج المنافسة. في تلك الأثناء، بدأ كل من أمين وهبي وجمانة العيدروس في تطوير نموذج ذكاء اصطناعي، وقاموا بتدريبه على التعرف على صور متنوعة لأنواع النفايات، حتى تمكن من تصنيف 10 أنواع مختلفة بدقة بلغت 87%!
اليوم، يمكن تثبيت هذا النموذج على أي سلة مهملات في أي مكان عام، دون الحاجة للقلق حول مكان وضع البلاستيك أو الورق، فابتكار هؤلاء المخترعين اليافعين كفيل بأن يتعرّف على نوع النفايات ووضعها في مكانها الصحيح.

وهكذا استطاع ماتيو أنجيلو وعلياء سيف وهيام خلفان وآراف أجراوال وأمين وهبي وجمانة العيدروس الفوز بجائزة الابتكار عن مشروعهم "حاويات فصل وفرز النفايات باستخدام الذكاء الاصطناعي". ويصبح هذا الفوز بوابة عبور أمام هؤلاء الشباب لتمثيل دولة الإمارات العربية المتحدة في مسابقة بكين العالمية للإبداع العلمي للشباب، والتي تقام في بكين، الصين، خلال الفترة من 26 إلى 30 مارس 2025.

"Why do people discard waste randomly and irresponsibly when there are recycling bins everywhere?" This simple question, born from Matteo Angelo's genuine curiosity, sparked the initial idea for a remarkable innovation that began to take shape within the walls of Dubai Public Libraries. This seemingly random act of improper waste disposal wasn't just hindering recycling efforts; it was also contributing to environmental pollution.
It was then that Alya Saif and Hayam Khalfan pondered: "Why not design a waste bin that sorts trash automatically?"
Arav Aggarwal worked on extensive research to see if smart bins already existed and studied the weaknesses of competing models. Meanwhile, Amin Wahaby and Jumana Alaidarous began developing an artificial intelligence model, training it to recognize diverse images of various waste types. Eventually, their AI could accurately classify 10 different kinds of trash with an impressive 87% accuracy!
Today, this AI model can be integrated into any public waste bin, eliminating the need for people to worry about where to put plastic or paper.

And so, driven by a simple question and fueled by collaborative ingenuity, Matteo Angelo, Alia Saif, Hayam Khalfan, Arav Aggarwal, Amin Wahaby, and Jumana Alaidarous won the Innovation Award for their project: "AI-Powered Smart Waste Sorting Bin for Sustainable Waste Management" This victory now opens an exciting door for these young minds to represent the United Arab Emirates at the Beijing International Youth Science Creation Competition, held in Beijing, China, from March 26th to 30th, 2025.

في حديقة مكتبة الطوار العامة، كان سلطان المرزوقي ومحمد المنصوري يجربون النظام الذي طوروه مع زملائهم لاكتشاف المصابين بواسطة طائرة بدون طيار، وفجأة وصلتهم رسالة من نظام التحكم أن هناك شخصا ما تحت الأشجار على بعد كيلو متر في هذا المكان، فتفقدوا شاشات المراقبة، والتي لم تستطع اكتشاف أي أحد في تلك المنطقة، فذهب آدم سرحان وزينة منصور للتأكد من الأمر بأنفسهم ظنًا منهم أن هناك خللًا في النظام، ولكن كانت المفاجأة التي جعلت قلوبهم ترقص طربًا!

كان هناك بستاني يقوم بتنظيف الحديقة تحت شجرة كثيفة الأغصان، وعلى الرغم من ذلك استطاع نظامهم اكتشافه ورصده! هذا الإنجاز جدد الأمل في قلوبهم مرتين: مرة بأن كل ما تعلّموه من لغات البرمجة في هذا الوقت القصير لم يذهب سُدى، ومرة بأن هناك أملاً في الحياة لكل من تضرروا من الحروب والكوارث الطبيعية، فابتكاراتهم قادمة لخدمة البشرية وإنقاذ الأرواح!
إلا أن سعادتهم لم تقف عند هذا الحد! فقد تُوج هذا الإنجاز بنجاح غير مسبوق، حيث فاز مشروع الطائرة المسيّرة المدعومة بالذكاء الاصطناعي للكشف عن ضحايا الكوارث الطبيعية، والذي قدّمه كل من سلطان المرزوقي، ومحمد المنصوري، وآدم سرحان، وزينة منصور، وحصل على جائزة الابتكار. ليفتح هذا الفوز الباب أمام هؤلاء الشباب لتمثيل دولة الإمارات العربية المتحدة في مسابقة بكين العالمية للإبداع العلمي للشباب، والتي تقام في بكين، الصين، خلال الفترة من 26 إلى 30 مارس 2025.

In the gardens of Al Twar Public Library, Sultan Al Marzooqi and Mohammed Al Mansouri, along with their teammates, were testing a drone-based system they had developed to locate victims. Suddenly, a message popped up from the control system, alerting them to a person spotted under the trees, about a kilometre away. They checked the surveillance screens, which showed nothing in that area, so Adam Serhan and Zynah Mansour set out to investigate, thinking it might be a system glitch. But what they found took them by complete surprise.

Hidden beneath a thick tree was a gardener cleaning the park, and yet their system had accurately detected and tracked him! That moment revived their hope in two powerful ways: first, that the two programming languages they had learned in such a short time had truly paid off; and second, that there was still hope for lives affected by war and natural disasters… Their innovation was real, and it had the power to serve humanity and save lives.
But this was just the beginning. Their project: an AI-Powered UAV System for Rapid Victim Detection in Natural Disasters won the Innovation Award. This remarkable success paved the way for these young innovators to represent the United Arab Emirates at the 44th Beijing International Youth Science Creation Competition, held in Beijing, China, from March 26 to 30, 2025.

خلال الحفل الختامي لنادي العلوم والابتكار (STEM Club)، أعلنت شركة بسيط بالتعاون مع هيئة دبي للثقافة والفنون عن الفائزين بجائزة الابتكار، الذين سيمثلون دولة الإمارات العربية المتحدة في مسابقة بكين العالمية للإبداع العلمي للشباب، والتي تقام في بكين، الصين، خلال الفترة من 26 إلى 30 مارس.

وشهد الحفل حضور نخبة من الشخصيات البارزة والقادة التربويين، الذين ناقشوا الطلاب الموهوبين في مشاريعهم، وأشادوا بابتكاراتهم وإبداعهم، ومن بينهم:
الدكتورة مريم الغاوي، مدير مركز حمدان للموهبة والابتكار.

After eight weeks of dedicated efforts at Dubai Public Libraries, Baseet, in collaboration with the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, announced the winners of The Innovation Award 2025, who will proudly represent the United Arab Emirates at the Beijing International Youth Science Creation Competition (BYSCC), taking place in Beijing, China, from March 26 to 30, 2025.

Celebrating The Innovation Award Winners, the ceremony witnessed the attendance of esteemed guests and educational leaders who discussed the gifted students' projects and praised their innovation and creativity, including:
Dr. Mariam Alghawi, Director of Hamdan Centre for Giftedness and Innovation.
Lieutenant Colonel Abdullah Al Suwaidi, Director of the Hemaya Schools Office, Dubai Police.
Mr. Ahmed Abozaid, The most renowned educational YouTuber in the Arab region.
Ms. Eman Al Hammadi, Manager of Libraries Affairs Section, Dubai Culture and Arts Authority.
Mr. Ibrahim Farouq, Director of Education and International Outreach at Baseet.

This recognition reflects the dedicated collective efforts, starting from leading schools across the UAE and Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum Centre for Giftedness and Innovation, which discovered and nominated this elite group of gifted students who demonstrated exceptional commitment and creativity during the STEM Club. Dubai Public Libraries offered an inspiring environment for creativity by integrating the STEM Club into its School of Life Impact Tracks. Baseet contributed with high-quality training and mentorship programs that enabled students to innovate sustainable solutions for global challenges.
This strong collaboration between educational institutions, government entities, and the private sector highlights a shared commitment to empowering youth and equipping them to shape a more sustainable and innovative future.
