Luis Aníbal Calderón has spent nearly 15 years exploring coffee varieties and finding new ways to take his work further.

From his farm in Acevedo, Huila, alongside his family, he has built a project that now includes 25 coffee varieties and his own lab to better understand the quality of the coffees they produce.

His journey hasn’t been easy, but his persistence has helped him transform the way he works and find new opportunities in coffee.

With over 40 years dedicated to coffee farming in San Adolfo, Huila, Arnubio Alvear has built a family legacy rooted in resilience, knowledge, and a deep connection to the land. Today, three generations work together to bring their coffee to new heights.

His meticulous approach to agronomy, extended fermentation, and slow drying allows him to bring out the character of his exotic varieties. One of his standout lots is a Sidra Bourbon, shaped by careful processing and a commitment to quality.

Arnubio’s story reflects the dedication behind Colombian coffee and the legacy his family continues to build.

Fabián Murcia represents a new generation of coffee growers combining technical knowledge with family tradition. A third-generation producer and agricultural engineer, he leads La Divina Geisha Project in Los Ídolos, Huila, focusing on precision agriculture, soil nutrition, and traceability.

His washed Geisha reflects this commitment to quality, featuring 48 hours of anaerobic barrel fermentation followed by an additional 60 hours of pulped barrel fermentation, enriched by the farm’s native microbiology.

Alongside his mother, F***y Vargas, Elkin Guzmán carries forward a third-generation coffee tradition with over 70 years of history. At El Mirador, he has refined coffee processing by combining botanical observation with applied microbiology to develop precise and consistent methods.

His technical expertise has made him a trusted partner to world barista champions such as Saša Šestić, Maxwell Colonna-Dashwood, and Hugh Kelly, contributing his knowledge to coffees competing at the highest level.

In recent days, Fabian Murcia has earned recognition at Expocafé Pitalito 2026, FICCA, and Colombia Tierra de Diversidad, where his Geisha Yirgacheffe was selected among the 55 finalist lots out of 1,045 entries.
