Undensified Silica Fume:

1. Introduction
Silica Fume is also called Micro silica; it is a very fine pozzolanic material, composed of amorphous silica produced by electric arc furnaces as a by-product of the production of elemental silicon or Ferro silicon alloys. This micro silica used in refractory has a minimum of 94% content of silica, and this undensified micro silica reaches national first grade standard,80% of granularity is less than 0.1 um with a maximum of 0.3 um with bulk density between 200-350kg\m3.

2. Application
Micro silica in refractory is a highly effective pozzolanic material; the functions of adding micro silica are as follow:
- Enhancing the fluid of pouring refractory
- Reducing the volume of used water.
- Be easy to shape.
- Raising the production efficiency.
- Raising the compact and intensity of refractory.
- Enhance elevated temperature strength and thermal shock of refractory.

3. Features
1) High Electrical Resistivity.
2) Low Permeability.
3) High Reactive Pozzolan.
4) High Temperature Strength.
5) Low chloride ion diffusion.

Densified Silica Fume:

1. Introduction:
Silica fume, also called as micro silica, silica dust, which is a by-product of producing silicon metal or ferrosilicon alloys.Densified Silica fume consists primarily of amorphous (non-crystalline) silicon dioxide (SiO2) with bulk density between 500-700kg\m3. Because of its fine particles, large surface area, and the high SiO2 content, silica fume is a very reactive pozzolan when used in concrete. The quality of silica fume is specified by ASTM C 1240 and AASHTO M 307.

2. Application:
Silica fume is widely used in concrete field: High-performance project, such as bridge, airport, hydropower station, seawall, railway projects.
1) Enhance the mechanical properties of concrete.
High strength and early strength has been used in substructures of high-performance concrete.
2) Improve the durability of concrete:
Significant improvements can be seen in the permeability resistance, abrasion resistance, anti-corrosion against chloride ion and anti-freezing of concrete.
3) Enhance constructability.
Improve shot concrete, increase easily strength, control temperature contractors can take advantage of the properties of silica fume concrete to expedite projects or to achieve properties that might otherwise be impossible to achieve.

3. Features:
1) High early strength.
2) Greater impermeability.
3) High ultimate compression strengths.
4) Substantially greater resistance to corrosion.

Micro silica fume Application:

1) Concrete:
• Increase its density and strength; improve the performance on its durability, Impact resistance, corrosion resistance, anti-permeability and frost resistance.

2) Refractory material & Ceramics material
• Greatly improve its density, strength and high temperature performance.

3) Cementite’s Repair Products (Mortars & Grouts)
• Low permeability, increase resistance from chlorides, acids, nitrates and sulfate.

4) Oil Well Grouting
• Increase durability and compression strength, decrease permeability, better control of gas leakage.

5) Concrete Tile, roofing & wallboard, panels
• Lightweight and improve the strength

6) Polymers & rubber product.

7) Other application, such as water glass industry, thermal insulation material.

What is micro silica or silica fume material?

Silica fume, also known as micro silica, is an amorphous polymorphic of silicon dioxide. It is an ultra-fine powder collected as a by-product of the silicon and ferrosilicon alloy production.
Its average granule diameter is around 0.1µm, specific surface area is 15000~ 25000m2/kg, and it has extremely strong surface active.
It is a very fine pozzolanic material which can be used in a variety of cement products to improve their performances.
(Such as concrete, grouts, mortars as well as elastomer, polymer, refractory, ceramic and rubber applications)
