What makes a co-working space work? Maybe it starts with what happens between the work.

Work doesn’t happen in just one way, or in just one place. So why design a space that expects it to?

The challenge is giving each of these moments its own place, while still creating one connected workplace.

At Centrum Workspaces in Reem Mall, we designed with those moments in mind. Collaborative zones for exchanging ideas, a hospitality-style café that invites people to stay a little longer, and a reception where a curved marble desk, fluted panels and a custom Japanese mural make the first impression anything but ordinary.

Got an office space but no idea where to start?

Start with the brief, not the finishes.

Before the design begins, get clear on your team size, how the space needs to function, your budget and your target move-in date. Then look at the site itself, from existing services and ceiling heights to access and landlord requirements.
These decisions shape the entire fit-out, from space planning and MEP to materials, furniture and construction.

At Motif, we bring design & build together from the start, so every decision works towards the same brief, budget and timeline.

A proud moment for Motif Interiors at the Commercial Interior Design Awards.

For us, Design & Build means taking responsibility for the entire journey, from understanding the brief and developing the concept to technical design, construction, joinery, furniture and final handover.

Over the next few days, we’re taking you behind that process.

A proud moment for Motif.

Motif Interiors | Design & Build Company has been Highly Commended for Design-and-Build Firm of the Year at the Commercial Interior Design Awards MENA 2026.

Design and build is about more than delivering a finished space. It’s about making sure the thinking behind the design carries through every decision, detail and stage along the way.

This recognition belongs to the team behind that process, and to the clients and collaborators who trust us with their projects.

A great moment for Motif, and one we’re proud to share.

The office has come a long way.

From landlines to laptops, private desks to shared zones, the way we work has changed faster than the spaces around us.

Feeling nostalgic? Take a look back at a 1980s office. Would this space survive 2026?

The spaces between desks are doing more work than they used to.

According to Gensler’s 2026 Global Workplace Survey, people in the UAE spend just over half their week in the office, but would ideally spend closer to two-thirds of it there. Yet many still end up taking calls in hallways and holding meetings at their desks.

That’s where breakout areas come in. They’re no longer just extra seating. They’re where quick conversations happen, where teams catch up, and where people go for a change of scene during the day.

At Motif, we plan them with the right balance of seating, privacy and flexibility, so they suit how teams really use them.

What does your workspace feel like?

Sometimes that’s the question that reveals the most.
As teams evolve and the way people work shifts, the atmosphere of a space starts to matter more, how it supports focus, how it encourages connection, and how it shapes everyday wellbeing. Colour plays a quiet role in all of this, influencing how people move, think and collaborate.

A thoughtful palette begins with understanding how the space is used now and how the business is growing. The right tones can bring clarity, calm or energy, helping the workplace feel aligned with the rhythm of the team.

“Should we do something about this space?”

Yes. You should.

Keep us in your thoughts. We’ll be here. 😉
