Ever thought about how much a 2.5-inch difference can change a supervisor’s entire day?
An 8.5″ depth gauge isn’t just «bigger» than a standard 6″, it’s 101% more dial-face area. That’s more than double the space for graduations to breathe, for numbers to be legible at a glance, for a supervisor who’s been staring at that dial for hours to read it instantly, not squint at it.
It sounds like a small ergonomic tweak. In practice, it’s the difference between a good shift and a great one.
That’s the thinking behind our Dive Control Panels, 8.5″ Pneumo/Depth gauges, positioned right at eye level:
✅ Large, clear graduations for easier continuous monitoring
✅ Dual scale (msw + fsw) — no mental math mid-op
✅ Mirrored dial to minimise parallax error
✅ Built around the person actually operating the system
Gauge size alone doesn’t make a great panel, of course, accuracy, calibration, range, illumination, and overall ergonomics all pull their weight too. However when we build our systems, the question we always keep in our thought process is «how can we make this easier for the person using it?»
