🚢 M/V Barakat - Undocking Tomorrow!
Over the past few weeks, our team at Gama Ship Repair has been executing a full-scale repair and restoration program on the livestock carrier M/V Barakat bringing her from heavily fouled and aged… to clean, revived, and ready for service again.

Here’s a brief of what went into this drydock:

🔹 Complete Hydroblasting
Removal of multiple layers of fouling, rust, and old coating and preparing the hull and deck for a fresh, long-life system.

🔹 4-Coat Painting System
Application of a full 4-coat protective system across the hull and deck:
1️⃣ Surface-tolerant primer
2️⃣ High-build epoxy
3️⃣ Intermediate protective coat
4️⃣ Final antifouling topcoat
Ensuring corrosion protection, better hydrodynamics, and durability for the coming years.

🔹 50 Tons of Steel Renewal
Major steel replacement on the hull, decks, and structural members, all executed after UT gauging and in full compliance with Class requirements.

🔹 Valve Overhauling & Pipe Repairs
Critical valves and pipelines across deck and engine room were dismantled, overhauled, calibrated, tested, and reinstated.

🔹 Survey Jobs (Class & Statutory)
Thickness gauging, hull structural surveys, piping inspections, sea chest inspections, propeller/tail-shaft checks, hatch integrity checks, anode renewal, and all other Class-mandated scope.

🔹 Miscellaneous Drydock Works
– Anchor & chain calibration
– Sea-chest cleaning & servicing
– General outfitting repairs
– Mechanical support & fabrication

All of this was completed within a tight drydock window, thanks to the coordination and hard work of our production teams, supervisors, and onboard crew.

Excited to undock her tomorrow and hand her back to the owners in top shape.

🛳️ New Arrival at Our Yard | M/V ALMABROUKA 11 – Livestock Carrier ⚓

We’re pleased to welcome M/V ALMABROUKA 11 to our facility for her scheduled docking and maintenance program.

The vessel is currently in the final stages of hydroblasting, where the hull surface is stripped and cleaned to bare steel. This step is essential before any coating work begins, ensuring proper adhesion and long-term protection against corrosion.

Alongside hull preparation, our team has commenced major steel plate renewals, addressing the areas identified during thickness gauging and ensuring the vessel’s structural integrity is restored to class requirements.

A complete overhaul of the anchor chains is also underway including gauging, cleaning, and renewal where necessary to guarantee safe and reliable anchoring operations.

With multiple jobs progressing simultaneously, M/V ALMABROUKA 11 is off to a strong start in this docking cycle. More updates to follow as the work advances.

⚙️ Phase 2 Progress | M/V Barakat – Livestock Carrier 🛳️

Work is well underway on M/V Barakat at our Dubai Maritime City facility, as we move into the second phase of her drydock repairs.

Following the completion of hydroblasting, our team has now commenced extensive hull and deck steel renewals — replacing corroded steel sections to restore the vessel’s structural integrity and seaworthiness.

Steel renewal is a critical step that follows a comprehensive Ultrasonic Thickness (UT) inspection, which identifies weakened or thinned areas of the hull. Each replacement is carefully fabricated and welded to class standards, ensuring the vessel meets both safety and operational requirements before returning to service.

As progress continues, our focus remains on precision, quality, and timely delivery — key hallmarks of every Gama Ship Repair project.

Stay tuned for the next update as Barakat moves closer to completion.

⚓ New Project Arrival | M/V Barakat – Livestock Carrier 🛳️

We’ve welcomed M/V Barakat to our facility at Dubai Maritime City for her latest round of maintenance and hull treatment works.

One of the first and most crucial stages of drydocking is hull scraping — removing marine growth and old coatings before blasting can begin. This process must be carried out within the first few days of lifting the vessel from the water, before the marine growth dries out and becomes much harder to remove.

Once the hull is cleaned and fully prepped, surface treatment and painting works will follow to restore efficiency and protect against corrosion.

Stay tuned as we take you through the different stages of this project and share the transformation of M/V Barakat over the coming weeks.
