⭕ Reports reveal that a Samsung Galaxy S25 FE smartphone belonging to a Canadian resident has suddenly exploded while being left to charge overnight. Notably, this marks the third reported incident of a Samsung Galaxy S-series phone catching fire in recent times.
⭕ According to the user, the Galaxy S25 FE was placed to charge overnight on the mattress where he and his young son were sleeping. To charge the device, he used the official in-box cable provided by Samsung along with a third-party 20W Power Delivery (PD) charging adapter.
⭕ The phone suddenly exploded with popping sounds, sending plastic and metal shrapnel flying everywhere like fireworks, which instantly triggered heavy smoke and a fire across the bedroom. The fire department later arrived to manage the smoke. Due to the explosion, the user's hair was slightly singed, and he suffered minor burns on his neck.
⭕ The device was purchased brand new from Virgin just six months ago. Most unfortunately, the user is still actively paying off the monthly installments for this phone.
⭕ The user admits that the phone was kept inside a thick leather wallet case, which also contained metal coins. While this specific setup may have heavily contributed to the phone overheating and exploding, Android Authority points out that modern smartphones typically possess plenty of built-in safety measures designed to halt excessive thermal buildup before it escalates into a hazard.
⭕ The user has already contacted Samsung customer support and received a ticket number, but Android Authority confirms that he has yet to receive any response from the company.
⭕ This marks the third time a recently released Samsung Galaxy S-lineup phone has caught fire. While Samsung officially issued statements regarding the first reported incident, records show they did not release any response or statement for the second one. Android Authority has reached out to Samsung for an official comment on this latest case and will publish it as soon as they receive a reply.
