The manuscript studies, and the analysis of palimpsests in particular, i.e. manuscripts that were written in early times but erased and overwritten in a later period, benefited hugely from the technological developments of the recent past. The article (https://www.magaghat.ai/articles/exploring-armenian-palimpsests-with-multispectral-and-transmissive-light-imaging) by Prof. Jost Gippert of the CSMC at Hamburg explores Armenian palimpsests with advanced imaging techniques.

Palimpsests are manuscripts (usually on parchment) that were written in early times but erased and overwritten in a later period.
