Break Through in Neuroscience

Ischemic stroke represents the majority of stroke cases, yet current treatments must be delivered immediately and cannot reverse existing tissue damage. Advancing regenerative strategies requires precise, high-quality genetic tools from the very start.

Researchers developed a novel cell therapy by reprogramming fibroblasts with plasmids encoding developmental transcription factors that promote intracranial vasculogenesis. Using a non-viral, nanochannel-driven gene delivery system, the reprogrammed cells were delivered into a mouse model of ischemic stroke, resulting in repaired tissue damage and significantly improved locomotive function.
