JOHANN FANZOJ GUNMAKING ACADEMY.
A LONG-HELD VISION IS BECOMING REALITY

Sometimes, the most meaningful journeys begin with a simple yes.
For years, we had to turn away young people who wanted to learn our craft. This year, we said yes.

At this very moment, three gifted young women sit in our workshop atelier, training for their journey to become future engravers. Guided by Master Engraver Jürgen Sparoutz and supported by our entire team, a place of learning has emerged almost overnight.

A temporary place for now - but like a small seed, nurtured with heart and dedication, a vision is beginning to grow.

For more than 500 years, the Art of Gunmaking has shaped life here in our hometown of Ferlach. Today, this unique cultural heritage and its centuries-old body of knowledge are under threat worldwide. Traditions survive only when they are passed on.

Perhaps this is the beginning of the Johann Fanzoj Gunmaking Academy

Engraving Sketch: the creative implementation of the Amur Tiger theme by fabulous . The biggest cat in the world which roams the icy regions of North Asia, was chosen by the customer as an engraving theme on this individually designed Johann Fanzoj Single shot r***e, a LR champion built to the gigantic 33XC cartridge.

Form and function
At this ultimate level of customization we aspire to achieve a harmonic „whole“ with our fi****ms. An equilibrium of form, function and shooting comfort. This might involve challenging traditional lines and shapes. Note how nicely stockmaker Andi ‚broke down‘ the massiveness of the forend here.

One advantage of our fully integrated in-house production is that gunmakers/engineers work hand in hand thru the design- and production phase and may explore new solutions on the way.
