The International Genetically Engineered Machine (iGEM) is an international competition in the field of synthetic biology that was initially aimed at university students. Let’s get into the science behind Knotaut.
No experiments yet – but a whole lot of thinking, reading, designing.

At the heart of our concept: an RNAi-based approach to stop Fallopia japonica from spreading underground.
Sprayable dsRNA, packed in liposomes, is taken up by the plant — and silences its growth from the inside out.

Sounds wild? That’s because it is.
