🏭 Why does one building have 20 smoke vents and another 30?
No, it is not determined solely by the size of the building.
Two halls may have similar dimensions yet require a completely different number of smoke and heat exhaust ventilators.
The design depends on several factors, including:
the fire load of the building,
fire compartmentation,
building height,
the required aerodynamic free area (Aa),
fire safety engineering requirements, and
applicable national fire safety regulations.
Therefore, the number of smoke and heat exhaust devices must always be determined individually for each building based on its specific fire safety concept and operating conditions.
It is also essential to consider the legal and technical requirements applicable in the country where the system is to be installed.
The required number of devices is defined by the building’s fire safety design and the smoke and heat exhaust performance necessary to achieve the intended fire safety objectives.
