APP Lozorno | Firelock DUO

Another of our projects in the automotive industry – Automotive Industrial Park Lozorno, Slovakia. The roof of the building features Firelock DUO double-flap ventilators for natural smoke and heat exhaust. Within the roof structure, the devices are installed alongside arched rooflights providing natural daylight to the hall.

Firelock DUO, with two flaps opening to 90°, provides an aerodynamic free area Aa of up to 7.39 m², depending on the configuration, and offers a wide range of options for industrial and logistics buildings.

MONO or DUO? Two designs, the same purpose – but different possibilities.

Firelock MONO and Firelock DUO are natural smoke and heat exhaust ventilators certified according to EN 12101-2. However, the difference between them goes beyond the number of flaps.

- MONO is based on a simpler single-flap design.
One robust flap opens up to 165° when activated. The integrated mounting base simplifies the overall construction, while MONO is designed as a cost-effective solution within the product range. It provides an aerodynamic free area (Aa) of up to 3.2 m² and is available in dimensions up to 1800 × 2300 mm.

- DUO uses a double-flap design.
Two flaps open to 90°, allowing larger dimensions of up to 2500 × 3500 mm and an Aa of up to 7.39 m². Configurations with thermal breaks are also available, together with a wider range of design options.

What does this mean for the designer?

MONO offers a simpler and more economical solution where its performance range meets the project requirements. DUO extends the possibilities where larger dimensions, a higher aerodynamic free area or additional configuration options are required.

It is not about a “better” or “worse” device.
They are two different designs for different technical requirements.

Reference Project – VGP Park Bratislava | Hall A (DIRKS)

VGP Park Bratislava is one of the leading industrial and logistics parks in Slovakia. During the first phase of the development, Hall A was handed over to DIRKS Consumer Slovakia, which operates more than 40,000 m² of modern warehouse and distribution space. The building was developed to the BREEAM Official Very Good standard.

This project features Firelock ARCH arched smoke and heat exhaust ventilators manufactured by iPIC solutions.

Firelock ARCH is designed for industrial and logistics buildings where reliable performance, functionality and seamless roof integration are essential.

Our work doesn't end when the project is handed over.

Once fire safety systems are commissioned, regular servicing and functional inspections become an essential part of ensuring their reliable operation throughout the system's service life.

At the Winkelmann production plant in Rimavská Sobota, iPIC solutions carried out the first post-handover service inspection of the installed Firelock DUO and Firelock MONO systems

The service included checking the operation of the devices, actuators, control components and the overall functionality of the system to verify that it continues to perform in accordance with the project requirements.

At iPIC solutions, our commitment extends beyond installation. Service and technical support are an integral part of the solutions we provide throughout the entire lifecycle of our systems.

🏭 Why does one building have 20 smoke vents and another 30?

No, it is not determined solely by the size of the building.

Two halls may have similar dimensions yet require a completely different number of smoke and heat exhaust ventilators.

The design depends on several factors, including:

the fire load of the building,
fire compartmentation,
building height,
the required aerodynamic free area (Aa),
fire safety engineering requirements, and
applicable national fire safety regulations.
Therefore, the number of smoke and heat exhaust devices must always be determined individually for each building based on its specific fire safety concept and operating conditions.

It is also essential to consider the legal and technical requirements applicable in the country where the system is to be installed.

The required number of devices is defined by the building’s fire safety design and the smoke and heat exhaust performance necessary to achieve the intended fire safety objectives.

These devices are not intended to extinguish a fire. Their primary function is to remove smoke and heat, support safe evacuation of occupants, improve visibility and tenability conditions within the building, and facilitate firefighting operations.

Consequently, two buildings that appear very similar in size and layout may require significantly different numbers of smoke and heat exhaust ventilators on their roofs.

For the COOP Jednota Kočovce retail building, iPIC solutions delivered a natural smoke and heat exhaust system integrated into the roof skylights.

In the event of fire, Firelock MONO supports the removal of smoke and heat, helping to maintain conditions for safe evacuation and supporting firefighting operations. At the same time, the system can also be used for daily ventilation and natural daylighting of the interior.

Projects like this demonstrate the versatility of Firelock MONO and its suitability for a wide range of commercial and public buildings.

🏭 iPIC solutions on CTP projects in Prešov

CTP continues to expand its industrial and logistics capacity in Prešov. Alongside the existing CTPark Prešov South, the new CTPark Prešov North project further strengthens the region’s position as an important logistics and industrial hub in eastern Slovakia.

For one of the industrial buildings, iPIC solutions delivered a mechanical smoke and heat extraction system, designed for the safe removal of smoke and combustion products in case of fire.

The end user of this facility is DE JONG Prešov — currently the most modern and largest production plant for stainless steel water tanks for heat pumps, as well as the only fully automated production of its kind in Europe.

Projects of this type require reliable technical solutions, precise coordination between disciplines, and high-quality on-site ex*****on.

Triblavina Logistics Center | Hall C

Triblavina Logistics Center in Bernolákovo is one of the key logistics developments located directly next to the D1 motorway between Bratislava and Trnava. Thanks to its strategic location near the Triblavina exit, the complex is designed for logistics, warehousing, and light industrial production with a focus on efficient operation and modern technical solutions.

As part of the Logistic Park Triblavina – Hall C project, iPIC solutions provided:
• design of the smoke and heat exhaust system
• delivery of the devices
• installation of the NSHEV system

The project utilized Firelock DUO devices, designed for natural smoke and heat exhaust in industrial and logistics buildings. The double-flap solution provides high aerodynamic efficiency while allowing seamless integration into modern roof systems of large-span facilities.
