Cohesive or semi-cohesive soil – high-quality building material
The depletion of deposits of traditional building materials used in infrastructure and road construction,
as well as attempts to save costs by using cheaper building materials, have led to the development of additives for soil stabilisation in recent years. These products are designed to compensate for the undesirable properties of cohesive soils in particular.
Unlike traditional building materials such as sand, gravel and crushed stone, such low-quality soils are available in unlimited quantities, and their use leads to significant savings in construction costs and protects the environment.

TERRASYSTEM® is an innovative, economical and ecological, forward-looking process that is superior to technologies such as cement, polymers or soil replacement in terms of load-bearing capacity, durability and behaviour in the presence of water (groundwater or rain).

TERRASYSTEM® can be used for the following applications:
• Water-resistant roads and paths can be built much faster, more cheaply
and more environmentally friendly than with current methods.
• Rehabilitation of existing roads through waterproofing, preventing them
from being washed away during heavy rain and flooding.
• Construction of solid flood protection dams, reservoirs and d***s, prevents
deaths, property damage and infrastructure damage caused by flooding.
• Construction and sealing of storage areas and landfills using
liquid-impermeable layers and water-resistant covers.
• Construction and renovation of railway embankments and their sealing
to prevent railway accidents due to heavy rain and flooding • Construction of airports and runways on solid, water-resistant foundations
with TERRA-3000®.
• Manufacture of water-resistant bricks without firing, for affordable, ecological
construction, alternatively, the material can be used as rammed earth material.

In all infrastructure work involving cohesive soils, the improvement in properties must be
reliable and permanent, and the effectiveness must be predictable.
Laboratory tests reliably show what can be expected when using TERRASYSTEM® in the field.

Processing can be carried out either using a central mixing process or an on-site mixing process.

Central mixing process – mixed in plant
In an external plant, cohesive soil is mixed homogeneously with the required foreign material
according to the laboratory evaluations, as well as with TERRA-3000®.

The high-quality material produced in this way can be pressed into bricks or produced as a building material in stockpiles, or filled into bags or buckets and delivered to the construction site as required.

In-place mixing method - mixed in place
TERRA-3000® - Mix the working solution into the track using a special milling machine.
It is best to carry out this operation in one step (moistening and mixing)
using a special milling machine with an automatic injection device.
Good mixing and optimum compaction guarantee the success of the TERRASYSTEM®.
If necessary, carry out a second or even a third milling operation. Important: *mixed well *

Compaction
Compact the treated track well with a tamping roller or rubber-tyred roller
with a total weight of more than 20 tonnes.

Loam, clayey soil – Treated with TERRA-3000®

Loam is a cohesive mixture of clay, silt and sand is the oldest and best building material, as is confirmed by hundreds of years old buildings of clay bricks worldwide. The only disadvantage of this material is the low resistance against water. Strength and load capacity are tremendously reduced, caused by the high water absorbency of this material. Solutions for this problem were investigated since hundreds of years and technologies were developed to reduce the water absorbency, like brick-burning procedures or addition of cement or lime.
About 25 ago, during series of compaction trails with soil materials among high pressure conditions and treated with our special developed catalyst - TERRA-3000®, we observed improved compressibility and high resistance of water resistance, as a result of tremendously reduced capillary action.
TERRA-3000® worked with more than 2000 soil samples, taken all over the world, with a certain clay content (particle sizes < 0,002 mm).

The innovative technology of soil stabilization for earth- and road construction
TERRA-3000® is effectively improving the compressibility of cohesive soils sustainable. Substantial reduction of water absorption is increasing the load capacity, frost resistance and abrasion resistance permanently.
Roads and squares, constructed with TERRA-3000®, are dust free even without surface layer and can be released for traffic immediately after termination of the construction works.
The effect of TERRA-3000® is based on many years of experience of the TERRASYSTEM® Nano-Technology. The method is proven in many applications worldwide and the product is 100% ecological and environmentally friendly.

Technologies - Application methods
TERRA-3000® applications require always a "mixing procedure", where the majority of soil particles need to get in contact with the product.
There are 2 methods of processing TERRA-3000®. The best possible method can be selected in accordance to the local conditions and the type of the construction project.

Mixed-on-site (in-situ) Technology
The existing soil material will be milled on site with a soil stabilizing milling machine. This can be an automotive soil stabilizer or a tractor-towed soil stabilizer. The addition of TERRA-3000® and water is ideally processed during the milling process, controlled by a flow controlling unit and ejected by nozzles directly into the mixing chamber of the soil stabilizer.
In the following process steps, the treated soil material will be levelled and compacted until the requested density is reached.
There is basically no material transport necessary, the construction material is available on-site. Material analyses (grading-curve determination) need to be done in advance in order to get the results available before the beginning of the construction works.

Mixed-in-Plant Technology
The soil material will be pre-finished in the mixing plant which should be in a reasonable distance to the construction site. The material is prepared for delivery by truck and will be applied at the current construction stage.
In the following process steps, the treated soil material will be levelled and compacted until the requested density is reached.
Material analyses (grading-curve determination) as well as moisture measurement and humidity control is done frequently in the mixing plant.

Advantages - Cost savings
All construction projects, which are suitable to be processed with TERRA-3000® and the TERRASYSTEM® Nano-Technology can be implemented in short processing time and reduced costs, achieved by:
Reduced excavation works
The "mixed-in-plant" technology reduces the excavation works substantially, because there is o sub-base required for the implementation of a compacted base layer of soil material treated with TERRA-3000®.
The mixed-on-site technology combines the mixing procedure with the material extraction on site, excavation works can be dropped.
Reduced material handling - transport logistics
Regardless on the preferred method, the transport logistic will be reduced to the minimum of carrying the treated soil material to the construction site in case of the "mixed-in-plant" technology or can be almost dropped when proceed with the "mixed-on-site" technology.
Simple construction
The TERRASYSTEM® Nano-Technology enables a continuous workflow. The entire construction project can be split into variable construction stages which can be finalized accordingly.
Savings through elimination of additional sub-base material request.

Conclusion
TERRASYSTEM® Nano-Technology and TERRA-3000® is the most economic method for sustainable soil stabilization applications of various construction projects. Depending on local conditions and circumstances of executed projects, cost savings up to 50%, compared with conventional construction methods were achieved.
