🌍🐝 Happy World Bee Day! 🐝🌼

Bees are essential for biodiversity, agriculture, and food security — and every single bee makes a difference. At AGRANA, we know how important these small pollinators are for our ecosystems and our food supply.

As part of our sustainability efforts to promote biodiversity in our upstream supply chain, ten beehives are placed at each of AGRANA’s Austrian production sites. For example at our plant in Aschach (Lower Austria), where this year 500,000 bees are producing around 200 kg of honey thanks to the dedicated care of our colleague and beekeeper Bernhard Baumann 🍯

And because protecting bees also means inspiring the next generation, we are already looking forward to our bee workshop in August, where children will get hands-on insights into the fascinating world of bees and honey production 🐝✨

Let’s keep the world buzzing — together!

Did you know that AGRANA is in one of three fruit yogurts worldwide? 👀 🍓

“Yogurt holds high importance for us. It's simply part of daily life here as a dessert. You can even buy it in packs of 16. That's why the yogurt and dessert aisles in supermarkets are so large and well-stocked”, says Operations Manager Cyrille Dreux.

At AGRANA’s site in France, around 125 employees turn fruit into customized preparations for the dairy, ice cream 🍦, beverage 🥤, and bakery 🥐 industries, as well as food service – with an annual production capacity of 48,000 tons.

Production in France is guided by objectives aligned with the NEXT LEVEL strategy, with strong growth expected in ice cream, food service, and flavors customer segments. 🚀

Data show that the food service sector will grow by a third in the EU by 2030 and globally by an average of 3.3 percent annually. 📈

Therefore… “We leverage our global market leadership in fruit preparations, our international presence, and our close customer relationships – as we do here in France”, as CEO Stephan Büttner announced.

🌱 Vienna Soil Dialog 2026 – a strong signal for the future

With the first Vienna Soil Dialog, AGRANA put soil at the center of attention as what it truly is: the foundation of food security, climate protection, and economic stability.

On March 23, experts from science, politics, and business came together in Vienna to discuss solutions – from regenerative agriculture to new frameworks.

💬 “Soil is central for AGRANA as a processor of agricultural raw materials,” said CEO Stephan Büttner.

💬 “Anyone who wants to strengthen resilience must start with soil,” emphasized President of the Austrian Raiffeisen Association Erwin Hameseder.

The key takeaway: we need a shift towards a holistic understanding of soil as a living system.

🎓 AGRANA supports young scientists

AGRANA has once again awarded its Science and Research Promotion Prize at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, .vienna.

💬 “With our research award, we specifically recognize young scientists who are addressing key future challenges in food production,” said COO Franz Ennser.

Two outstanding research projects were honored:

🔬 Dr. Marianna Giancaterino – for her research on the use of electrical technologies in food processing, aiming to enable more sustainable processes while improving quality and safety.

🌱 Dr. Henrique Rasera Raniro – for his dissertation on the role of cover crop mixtures in mobilizing phosphorus in soil – an important contribution to sustainable agriculture.

Both projects clearly demonstrate how innovation can make the processing of agricultural raw materials more efficient and sustainable.

👏 Congratulations to the award winners!

Visiting the Tulln plant 🏭

During our visit to the Tulln sugar factory, one thing became clear once again: this site is a true flagship of AGRANA’s Sugar Division. Together with CEO Stephan Büttner, Division CEO Martina Steinberger-Voracek and Plant Manager Martin Mayer, the focus was on efficiency, competitiveness, teamwork and strong partnerships.

💡 Continuous process improvements and increased value creation are driving the site forward – fully in line with the NEXT LEVEL strategy.

🌱 At the same time, close collaboration with agriculture remains a key success factor – recently strengthened by a new pricing model that provides greater planning security.

🇦🇹 And above all: the dedication of our employees shows every day what “Made in Austria” truly stands for. The Tulln sugar factory remains a strong pillar of regional value creation and industrial strength.

Thank you for your commitment!

A site that truly sets standards. 🔝🌾

At our site in Pischelsdorf, around 1 million tonnes of feed grain are processed every year – that’s about 3,000 tonnes every single day. This results in a wide range of essential products, including starch, gluten, ethanol, animal feed and biogenic CO₂, supplying industries far beyond the site itself.

Behind this performance is an impressive setup:
✨ Around 280 employees
⚙️ State-of-the-art facilities
📡 A highly automated environment managing around 60,000 signals 24/7

But Pischelsdorf is not only about scale and technology – it also plays an important role in sustainability. The bioethanol plant produces around 200,000 tonnes of biogenic CO₂ every year, making it one of Austria’s largest sources of biogenic CO₂.

Most importantly, all of this is powered by strong teamwork and close collaboration across the entire site.

A big thank you to the team in Pischelsdorf for the warm welcome and the insightful tour – a great example of in action.
